History and/or Personality
JET Hamada is an expert judoka who accomplished everything he set out to do in his sport. He did not wish to stop challenging himself in other areas but also did not want to abandon the sport he loves. So he made the transition to pro wrestling in order to show everyone the superiority of judo as a martial art and his own personal strength.
A tournament contact of his put him in touch with Miss Asako Matsuki with the hope of being signed by her. Upon meeting Asako, JET felt that her abrasive and controlling nature was not a good fit for him. JET is quiet but not out of weakness. Rather, his years of disciplined training has led to a peace of mind that does not wish to be disturbed. One good thing that sprung from the meeting with Matsuki was the name of the Universal Battle League where some of her clients competed. He inquired with Drake Yoshida, the UBL Sergeant and Japanese liaison, and was greeted with much enthusiasm. Drake allowed him to train in the UBL gym as he saw much potential in this Champion judoka. It was not long after that JET began making friends.
Matt Rivers, the Front Lines Field Leader, was the first to see how disciplined and skilled JET was and how quickly he was becoming comfortable in the ring. He reached out to his ally, the Marauder, who was already working with a newly acquired sumo talent by the name of Yoshiro. Due to Marauder's amateur wrestling background, he was extremely impressed by JET's judo ability and agreed to take him under his wing. He was even more impressed by the professionalism, poise, and hunger to improve that JET had been displaying. And so Marauder became his mentor and occasional tag team partner. Yoshiro and JET also became close allies due to their shared Japanese heritage and the fact they were both former Champions of their respective home sports.
Marauder and JET Hamada joined the Universal Battalion 2012 league in the hopes of becoming the new Champions and fill the vacancy left by the Jinchuu faction after Kyle Walker retired. Marauder, a former 5 time Battalion Champion, helped guide JET through the perils of the league but it was clear that JET was nowhere as green as he rightfully should be. The two made it to the finals and faced off with two of Matsuki's representatives, RYOMA and Kazuo "Chrome" Saji.
In what was the first televised match of the new UBL, Marauder and JET defeated their opponents via JET's "Unfriendly Skies" finisher. And so, JET Hamada made history by winning a UBL Championships within 6 months of joining the roster. They held on to the title for almost an entire year, establishing themselves as a dominant team and showing the potential that JET has for his future. While JET seems to want to focus on his singles career going forward, he still considers the Marauder his mentor and will remain in the Marauding Army faction.
2019 Update: After El Exilio injured Barton, JET Hamada then formed the "Snakes on a Plane" tag team with Naja Mask. They defeated "El Exilio" at "ALL YOUR BASE" to win the Universal Battalion Championship for the second time!
