Information for the 2020-2021 "Universal Champion" league to crown a Infinite Continuum Champion.
John Randolph announced the structure of the league here but there are more details to cover:
The Universal Championship league will occur over the next two years as part of the "Continuum" stream of the Collider Tour. The purpose of this league will be to merge the Universal Championship with the NEXUS Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, and Space-Time Continuum Championship to form the Infinite Continuum Championship: the undisputed, most prestigious title in the Universal Battle League.
This project will have 2 stages and contain the current Champions of the 3 other Titles.
Stage 1: League - starts March 2020.
Structure:
- The league will have 20 wrestlers.
- There will be 4 blocks containing 5 wrestlers each.
- Each block will have 10 matches.
- There will be 40 matches total for the entire league.
- There will be 10 shows consisting of 4 matches: 1 match per block on each show.
The template format for each show is essentially:
Match 1: Block A competition
Match 2: Block B competition
Match 3: Block C competition
Match 4: Block D competition
The positions on the card will rotate for each show to allow each Block to claim multiple main events.
The schedule for these events will be posted after the Roster members are posted next month.
Match Rules:
Referee: Eiji Yoshida
Time Limit: 20 minutes
Rope Break: ON
DQ Count: ON
Point Totals:
The amount of points awarded to each wrestler after a match will be determined using this scoring method:
- The two wrestlers in each block that have the highest point totals will advance to the second stage.
. If two or more wrestlers are tied for first or second place, tiebreakers will be needed at the end of this first stage to determine who moves on. Those matches will be scheduled for a separate event tentatively titled "Continuum Break."
Stage 2: Tournament - starts Fall 2025.
The second stage is a tournament made up of the 8 wrestlers that advance from the league. The first round of the tournament will be decided in one show, tentatively titled "Continuum T1."
The 2 semi-finals matches and Finale match of the tournament will take place at the OG-FPD 22nd Anniversary show entitled "United We Slam." The Universal Circuit and Universal Battalion Championship matches from the "Dimensional Stream" will also be on "United We Slam," combining the two Collider streams.
