UBL Open show - May 2010
*Blue and gold streamers fall from the top of the Battle Chamber in the Peter Venkman Memorial Arena. The fans are going nuts while proudly displaying their UBL merchandise, signs, and plush bears (who themselves have merchandise and signs). We go to John Randolph at the commentary booth.*
[John:] "It's my pleasure to welcome our fans back to UB: Reserve Roster action for the May 2010 Open show! And do we ever have a major show for you with the NEXUS Title on the line as well as the Battalion Block D spot to be determined. Let's go to the card."
*The BattleTron displays six matches*
Match #1: Karl Wunderlin vs. Chuck the Ripper
Match #2: Vert Triangle/Owen Churchill vs. Jean DuBreil/Vulcan Vesuvius
Match #3: No DQ/No count out: Dambman vs. Daddy Prime Time
Match #4: Corey O'Brian vs. Hiro Hirada vs. 'Majin' Black Omen
Match #5: Battalion Block D Tiebreaker: LRI vs. ARMADA
Match #6: NEXUS TITLE: Shady vs. Gene Starr
[John:] "Observant fans will note that one notorious encounter has not been listed here and that is the staple gun death match set to occur between Kyle Walker and Jeremiah Jones. The UBL has refused to 'officially' sanction that match even though they will be broadcasting it after this show is concluded. I have been assured that I will not have the misfortune and horror of having to discuss that match nor will I say anything further about it for the remainder of the evening."
[John:] "Instead let's get right back to the real show tonight as we see former NEXUS Champion Karl Wunderlin walking slowly to the ring. Karl is a man that learned just how easy it is for life to turn around for the worse. He was riding high as the second NEXUS Champion, having beaten Gene Starr, only to lose the title back to Starr a month later. Since then Karl has been on a losing streak and failed to win the #1 Contendership match at the last Circuit show. Now he faces relative UBL newcomer Chuck "The Ripper" Madrox. But Chuck is no newcomer to pro wrestling, having a lot of success in the FPCPP promotion as well as getting experience in the international circuit. Chuck is a real up and comer here with a lot of speed and moxy and is going to be quite the task for the frustrated Karl. Let's see what happens."

[John:] "And Karl was unable to mount much of an answer at all to Chuck's abilities. I don't know what was on Karl's mind but - oh boy, he is NOT happy. Karl Wunderlin is now throwing chairs into the ring and Chuck has wisely bailed out. Karl is grunting and slamming his fists on the ring apron and this really isn't good. We have security coming down and they're trying to calm him down. Finally, he walks off on his own accord backstage after sneering at a fan sign that said: "Kinda Wonderin' what happened to Karl Wunderlin."
Karl Wunderlin (X) [Springboard Rana- 13:06] (O) Chuck Madrox
[John:] "Well our next match is certainly gonna get even uglier then the scene we just saw. This is the official in ring debut of the "Fuzen Tara Seitan" stable that Athrin Cross had secretly organized over the last year. We have seen various combinations of Athrin, Jean DuBreil, Marquis du Douleur, and Vulcan Vesuvius in the last year but tonight is the first time two of its members officially don the F.T.S. war banner. And given their actions and words of the last few months, it does seem they are declaring war on certain wrestlers in UBL. However, after what happened to Silent Sword at the hands of Athrin, there's quite a resistance to F.T.S.' methods. Vert Triangle and Owen Churchill have stepped up, having been previous victims of the Bastille of Blood (Jean and Marquis), to punish them for their attack on Sword. Meanwhile, we have not heard from Sword for months and we at UBL all wish him a speedy recovery and hope he contacts us with his state of health. Jean DuBreil and Vulcan will face Vert and Owen tonight and I think we are going to see the next battle in a war that could burn a central path through the entire UBL."

[John:] "F.T.S. strikes again! If it wasn't for Corey O'Brian and Metapocalypse, I think it's very possible that Vert and Omega's careers would have been ended. As it is, Vert is knocked out with his neck at a very bad angle after that Demon Driver, and Omega is barely coming to. Metapocalypse had unfinished business with the Bastille of Blood after losing to them through chicanery at an O's TV show and we know that Corey has had it with the rotting influences in UBL. It may very well be that by trying to take out Vert and Omega, F.T.S. inadvertently drafted three more opponents to their cause!! One thing is for sure, F.T.S. is extremely dangerous and appear to be one of the strongest forces on the Reserve Roster right now. How their opponents will deal with that is a question that many in UBL have to have on their minds right now."
Vert Triangle/Omega (O) [Disqualification - 23:00] (X) Jean DuBreil/Vulcan Vesuvius
[John:] "Our next match features one of the longest running current feuds on the Reserve Roster. Dambman defeated Daddy Prime Time almost two years ago and DPT has not been able to cope with it. Instead he has climbed up the NiSan-Dan ladder to earn another shot at Damb and after some very very violent and offensive statements to each other, their rematch is under no disqualification rules. Folks, I don't even want to try to summarize some of the things they have said but it has been foul mouthed and these two really outright hate each other. A different hatred then then the violence we saw in the last match, more of a personal nature of biting oneupsmanship. However, both are extremely gifted wrestlers. Daddy Prime Time is also one half of the FPCPP Tag Champions, Daddy Death, and his partner Sonic Death has recently joined the UBL roster. However, NiSan-Dan is never too far away if Damb is in trouble and so we know both lockerrooms will be very engaged with what happens in this match.:"

[John:] "And that was certainly an encounter worthy of the awaited rematch! Both men went at it for 20 straight minutes and either could have taken it on many occasions. But it was Daddy Prime Time with his "Whose Ya Daddy" scorpion deathlock that forced Damb to submit. DPT finally gets a share of revenge but now that they are tied with one win each, where will each side go from here?
I can't believe that this matter is simply done after all the vitriol exchanged. But we actually get a rather calm post match with no attacks, a nice change from earlier in the evening. We will see what either of the two men, or Sgt. Yoshida, say to where this situation goes."
Dambman (X) ["Whose ya Daddy" - 20:06] (O) Daddy Prime Time
*And it's time for intermission now. I advise you all to take a deep breath and get themselves ready for the second half of action tonight. Luckily, UBL has provided some entertainment for the fans. I have been informed that there are more music-based teams then just Metapocalypse joining the growing UBL Tag division. Apparently a Barbershop Quartet...divided by two...has joined the roster as well as a team of...robots? Yes, the Binary Beats are apparently from the future and right now are engaging in a bit of a music rivalry with the Barbershop. Folks, I'd transcribe the songs but I don't think I have to- *sigh*
Fine, Sgt. Yoshida is telling me I have to do this. So here are the songs from both sides:
Binary Beats
[D1ssMastahDr01d:]
"Load.Battle.Rap. Represent.my.bits,
Here.comes.Sista.Circuit.with.her.binary t*ts."
[Rapbot 3k:]
"We.in.UBL.now.you.can't.talk.like.dat.son,
Boot.up.something,proper.using.0's.and.1's."
[D1ssMastahDr01d:]
"Don't.be.a.hater.like.dem.fools.across.da.ring.
We.manbots.rap.Them.choirboys.sing."
[John:] "Snap. Let's see what the Barbershop has to say about these allegations."
The Barbershop
[Norman Deere:] "We've been around the country-"
[Billy Case:] "We've even been to Tennessee-"
[Norman Deere:] "But never in our lives-"
[Billy Case:] "Have we seen such a bunch of p****-s"
[John:] "Let's just assume they said 'pansies' there. And it looks like this fun musical interlude just got personal. Security is removing both teams while the fans are laughing and actually cheering for either teams. It appears that the smaller members of each team are particularly aggressive here but Genji Security apparently isn't big on music appreciation and has cleared all four singers, wrestlers, entertainers, out. But I'm sure we'll be seeing them in further action on O's TV or Circuit Shows. I'm just glad Miss Carter didn't have to hear any of that language. And now, intermission is over. Thankfully."
[John:] "And we return to the ring where we have a very intriguing one fall, triple threat match. Corey O'Brian and Hiro Hirada have been engaged in a number of very physical matches. At the previous Open show, Hiro defeated Corey in a Last Man Standing match and at least one 'fan' in attendance seemed to want to get involved. However, that fan was actually on the roster and happened to be 'Majin' Black Omen. Omen hasn't gotten as many opponents in UBL as he has wanted and decided to challenge BOTH Corey and Hiro to this match with an extra stipulation: the two survivors of this match will face each other, with the odd man out being forced to move on. So if Corey loses tonight, he moves aside so Hiro can face Omen til they are satisfied with the result. With Corey and Hiro both tied with one victory against each other, Majin can effectively stop either of them from a tiebreaker match if he isn't defeated here. Majin said that he would be satisfied facing either of them in a 1 on 1 match and all he has to do is not get defeated here to do it. Corey already got himself into a squirmish earlier tonight so you wonder how much he wants to deal with here in UBL at once but he is not one to back down from a challenge or an opponent. With Majin looking especially dominant in the matches he has had here, I can see either Hiro or Corey wanting to face him. Let's get to the ring and see who the odd man out is of this grouping."

[John:] "And while it was a triple threat, Corey did get his second win over Hiro with a devestating implant DDT! Majin allowed the pinfall to happen, or just didn't break it up in time, but my guess is the former. So we are going to have what could be an epic encounter between two of the most stoic individuals in the UBL: Corey O'Brian and 'Majin' Black Omen. I look forward to their match and also think their upcoming rivalry may have future title contender implications given both of their successful records here."
Corey O'Brian (O) [Implant DDT - 21:27] (X) Hiro Hirada (-) 'Majin' Black Omen
[John:] "And now we turn to a match that is somewhat of a surprise to see on one of these shows. This is actually the first ever official league match sanctioned to appear on an Open or other Reserve program. At the last Battalion show, a month ago in Rome, a number of factors combined to lead to a Tie in Block D. Since there were no more league shows scheduled, we had no choice other then to put this tiebreaker on an Open show. And what a match it is scheduled to be, with a lot of history."
[John:] "On the very first Battalion show, back in early 2008, LRI actually defeated ARMADA in a sanctioned league match. However it was the team of Galcian and Ramirez not Galcian and Vigoro who fell. While LRI petitioned to get this match nulled due to that victory over ARMADA (assumably giving them a rankings advantage), Sgt. Yoshida told them that 1) No individual win has any more weight then any other win. It doesn't matter who you beat, just so long as you have the best Win/Loss record in your Block. That is a sensible proposition, really. And 2) after what LRI helped do to Johnny Bingo and their actions during the league, they don't get any special favors. In fact, they are lucky they're even still on the roster so they should stop complaining. Sergeant Yoshida's words, not mine. Don't hurt me, please."
[John:] "I have also been informed by Sgt. Yoshida that the winner of this match will face the winner of Block A, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. in the semifinals of the upcoming Battalion Finale show. That leaves Team McPro, the winner of Block B, to face the winner of Block C, the Dod Squod in what will be a long awaited potential rematch between Nick Strife and Jack Dod. But right now, all eyes, especially those of J.U.S.T.I.C.E. members will be on who their opponents will be - LRI or ARMADA. Let's get to the ring."

[John:] "And in a very very physical match, one where both sides did not shy away from questionable tactics, ARMADA has defeated LRI to capture the Block D win and advance to the Finale show! You gotta give both teams credit here for fighting so hard and even LRI credit for not pulling any of their over the top shenanigans, though my guess is that Sgt. Yoshida would have outright fired them had they did. You also gotta give Adam Galcian a lot of credit here for putting together the team he did, especially Ivan Vigoro who was arguably the MVP of the ARMADA team throughout the league. I don't know how well they will match up against J.U.S.T.I.C.E. just because of the different combinations possible of each team but we are sure to get an intense match between the two of them. Meanwhile, LRI, who had looked to be running away with Block D was stopped on account of their own misbehavior and then lost out tonight. I am sure Stuart Robinson will be hurling profanities and wild allegations over the next few weeks."
LRI (X) [Stretch Muffler - 32:24] (O) ARMADA
[John:] "We now come to the main event of the evening. Gene Starr, the current and two time NEXUS Champion is set to face Shady, a fomer holder of many PW-W Titles and one of Orochi Geese's oldest and most unstable rivals. Shady used his cunning to win the #1 Contender match at the Circuit show, beating out Johnny Brooke and Karl Wunderlin by making it seem that he was hit by a chair. However, such tactics will not have the same success here as a simple disqualification will not allow the title to change hands. Furthermore, Gene Starr has been in this business a long time. He has seen his share of misbehavior and is not fazed by it. I would advise Shady to wrestle this match straight and use his ample technical abilities here to attempt to counter Gene's striking, suplexing, and submission based fighting. I think if these two men are on their game and have their heads straight, we may see a classic. But the lingering question of Shady's career has always been if he has his head straight and what it would truly mean if he does. Do we even want to know? To Gene, the only thing he cares about is kicking Shady's head straight off and defending his title. Let's go to the ring for another NEXUS Title encounter."

[John:] "I have absolutely no idea what just happened or why it did. Shady, who looked to have Gene in a great deal of trouble, just left the ring. I don't know if he got injured or what happened but he appeared to taunt Gene from the entrance way. Now, I don't quite see the "edge" in taunting someone who just retained their title because you left but then again, I never got a bear to attack someone so it's safe to say that Shady and I are in very different 'mental zip codes.' Perhaps the taunting was because Shady really COULD have beaten Gene here...but chose not to? Seems to be that if you want to get under someone's skin, you beat them and take their title! But again...the bear thing. He's in a league of his own, that Shady. Meanwhile, for Gene, he just smirks and shrugs his shoulders, not really caring to play Shady's game. Perhaps Shady chose someone here to play mind games that wasn't a willing reciepient. Gene is no Juan Leche, he is much more in control of his emotions and has no prior history with Shady. Was this a major mistep and loss of opportunity for him, or part of a grander plan? I have no idea but Gene retains his NEXUS Title in what was turning into a really good match until Shady went MIA."
Gene Starr (O) [Countout via temporary insanity? - 20:28] (X) Shady
[John:] "Well that does it for tonight's official show. We are going to give a two minute delay just so that parents and guardians can make sure their children are out of the room before the staplegun fight happens.

I will see you next at the Battalion Finale show this summer. This is John Randolph, signing off."
