Universal Circuit - August 2010
*The UBL Battle Chamber in the Peter Venkman Memorial Arena comes alive as a graphic immediately pops onto the Battle-Tron with the matches scheduled for tonight.
Match #1: Park Hyun Soo vs. Chuck the Ripper
Match #2: Corey O'Brian vs. Majin Black Omen
Match #3: Metapocalypse vs. Bastille of Blood
Match #4: Juan Leche vs. Julian Caesaro
Match #5: Jason Hyde vs. Thunder Strike
"Hello fans, this is John Randolph and I'm glad to hear that our little voice over experiment last show was so well received. That's right, we only got two fan letter complaints about a "GHOST NARRATOR" and I recently learned that the reason behind the 'high volume' of letters was because he's ambidextrous.
We have an amazing show for you. The quality of matches planned will likely exceed the best Circuit Shows in the past. And we're gonna get to the first one now. Park Hyun Soo has had a difficult few months. His main mentor, Stuart Robinson of LRI, was fired from UBL at the Battalion Finale, and rightfully so after that violent attack on J.U.S.T.I.C.E. and ARMADA. Park's other mentor, Dave Fairbairn, hasn't been heard from since the last league show where he left frustrated that his team was eliminated due to the Dod's trickery. And even before that, Dave did not seem to be as mentor-y as he had been in the past, acting selfish and violent instead. But Park is still a young wrestler, inexperienced, and still looking for guidance. Sergeant Yoshida is high on him though and wants to give him a chance to succeed. But he may have given him too tall an order for this match. Chuck "The Ripper" Madrox has been undefeated since coming to UBL, defeating top talent left and right. We saw him totally shut down Karl Wunderlin a few months back. He has experience against men of all sizes, despite being on the small side himself. And he also possesses a mean streak that we've only seen a little of so far. He will not be intimidated by anyone and may have the mental edge over a thoughtful but confused Park right now. Let's see what happens here.

Wow - both men just kept fighting despite each hitting their finishers. What really shocked me was Park getting up from TWO R.I.P's. Even though Chuck was hurt and Park was still somewhat fresh, that's quite an accomplishment. But what also impressed me was that this was the first time we saw Chuck have to fight from behind and he did just that. He never got frustrated and just kept to his gameplan, looking for the opportunity to hit that fierce R.I.P. Cutter of his, a move that has knocked out many that he's faced in his career. Chuck gets another big victory but I think Park had to have turned some heads in this match.
Park Hyun Soo (X) ["The R.I.P." - 14:35] (O) Chuck Madrox
Our next bout is a rematch and involves 'Majin' Black Omen trying to even the score against Corey O'Brian. As if the stakes of this feud weren't high enough by their words of claimed supremacy, there is an extra incentive. The winner of this "best of 3 match" series will go on to face the winner of the "best of 3 match" series between Juan Leche and Julian Caesaro. The winner of THAT match will challenge long time UBL NEXUS Champion Gene Starr at the October Open Show in a Title match. So with 'Majin' already down by 1, this is a must win situation for him. But if Corey wins tonight, he gets a break til the main event of the following show. Otherwise, he'll have to wrestle 'Majin' again at the start of that show and then face who wins between Leche and Caesaro. It's possible they also go to the next show if Caesaro ties the series tonight. Let's see how this first match goes and whether or not 'Majin' has learned enough about O'Brian's techniques to be able to mount a tougher defense to his great offensive variety and head to a tiebreaker.

As hard as Corey fought tonight, 'Majin's moves just too much impact to be able to resist. Those array of "Black Dragon" suplexes by Omen are punishing and have to take years off a man's career. Just stepping in the ring with either of these guys is a questionably health decision but when you have 'Majin' on the brink of elimination, the look in his eyes tells you all you need to know - you're about to get broken.
Corey O'Brian (X) ["Black Dragon Suplex" - 14:24] (O) 'Majin' Black Omen
We now head to a match with more evil then competition. The fact is that Corey and 'Majin' aren't out to actively hurt people, they don't take pleasure in it. They just do what needs to be done to win and be the strongest. But the Bastille of Blood, and Fuzen Tara Seitan, is out for blood, it's in their name for crying out loud! However, Metapocalypse is one of the few groups on this roster unafraid of F.T.S. as a whole. Perhaps its their love of death metal but it seems they are unfazed by much of life's evil. They seem to only feed and get stronger. The two teams went to a 30 minute draw during an O's TV match a few months ago but that is only part of the reason for this rematch. Metapocalypse, along with Corey O'Brian, also came to the aid of Owen "Omega" Churchill and Vert Triangle a few months back when F.T.S. attacked them. The Bastille wants revenge for uh, their "fun" being interrupted. Let's see what kind of "fun" is had right now.

Both sides were relentless here! The double teaming of the Bastille led to MARDUK being in a dangerous situation. Jean mumbled some weird voodoo incantations and started twisting the hell (perhaps literally) into MARDUK's leg. MARDUK tapped out and I can't blame him. You gotta hand it to both teams for some great teamwork but I am amazed to announce that the Bastille won this match, and with a minimum of cheating.
Maximum Metal/MARDUK (X) ["Torture Torquer" - 24:00] (O) Jean DuBreil/Marquis De Douleur
Still, I don't think this is over between them. Damn it, I hate being right about stuff like that...this fight isn't over at all. I think it's just going into the next phase! Athrin Cross, the leader of F.T.S., has brought Vulcan Vesuvius down to ringside and are attacking Metapocalypse. This is a four on two with two fresh men on F.T.S. side and there's no way anyone can expect Metapocalypse to be faring better then they are right now, which is to say, not very well. Of note is that Corey O'Brian is being checked for concussion effects backstage after his match with 'Majin' so he's of no use here. I don't know WHO is gonna save-
Owen Churchill is running down to ringside! His side is still outnumbered but sometimes its not about success but about doing the right thing! You don't just let two guys get beat down like that, especially when those two guys helped come to your aid in that same position! But even with Omega, F.T.S. is still out brawling everyone. Athrin has his kusarigama out and is making small cuts on the forehead of his victims. He's just playing around here, savoring the position he has them in. Vulcan is muscling them down while the Bastille is collecting the blood. But it looks like things are just getting started as now Athrin has rolled three chairs into the ring. He makes a throat cutting motion when...the Battle-Tron has just turned on!

I can't believe what we just saw! Silent Sword is back...as Tiger Sword!! Before he got injured and went missing from UBL, he had donned the Tiger mask in a few other promotions and it appears he has brought the spirit of the Tiger to UBL! And for good reason - it was Sword's very own pupil Athrin who turned against Sword and injured him gravely last year at the November Open. And this past weekend, Athrin explained why he did what he did to Sword. But that may have backfired as Sword is back, angry, and just helped the wrestlers that were meant to be more victims of F.T.S.. We hadn't even heard from Sword for half a year until now! But when we did, it was with a roar! And F.T.S. cleared out immediately! And I think some of the fans may have had quite a scare from that tiger noise! Sorry, folks!! But even with that shock, i think everyone here is VERY happy to know Sword is healthy and back. Except F.T.S. of course.
And actually, we just MAY have another unhappy customer as Julian Caesaro has come out to ringside for his match. Sword returns with Metapocalypse and Omega as they go up the ramp and Julian has words for both Sword and Omega. He also has PerfectShawn Stevens now backing him up. Things may get tense here but then Juan Leche comes out too with a chair and breaks up any chance of attack from Perfect Royalty on the four men who's already seen their share of violence tonight. This just angers Julian even more, who was certainly angry enough after losing the first match in this series to Leche! But now Leche has gotten in his business once again. Well, this match is gonna start once everyone but Julian and Leche are backstage. And once they did, Julian slaps Leche and we're off! What a match this is gonna be!

What a finish!! I know Julian was angry but I've never seen him execute such a combination!! The rebound Pele kick into the Dragon Pro special hold! Leche has no idea what he just got hit with, which is amazing considering the things we've seen him do in the past. And Julian Caesaro has tied this series up with STYLE. I really can not believe what Julian just did to win that match. As angry and dangerous as he is, you can't discount his abilities in the ring, especially in the air. What a huge victory and enjoyable match.
Juan Leche (X) ["Dragon Pro Special"- 19:01] (O) Julian Caesaro
And now we come to the main event between Jason Hyde and Thunder Strike. The main even tonight which really could have been the previous match! But Geese has actually chosen this match to be the main as a 'professional courtesy' to two men who he has had 'misunderstandings' with in the past. Yeah, not buying it either? Well whatever the reason, Geese wanted to see this and is actually coming down to ringside to do so. Maybe not such a great idea with the Cease Fire finished. Kyle Walker joins him and the two are in the front row of the audience. I'm sure that will have some effect on the combatants but for now, they are focused on coming down to the ring. Jason and Thunder locked eyes with each other, seemingly ignoring Geese and Kyle. Though Jason did shake Kyle's hand on the way to the ring, his eyes were on Thunder.
These two reportedly had some very heated words with each other as Thunder was healing in the hospital after the aforementioned attack by LRI. Apparently Jason is the one who challenged Thunder to this match. I don't really know why other then some measure of pride and respect is involved. But I do know that the first and last time these two wrestled against each other was in the 2007 Universal Champions League...and Jason won. And the last time we saw these two in the same ring was when Jason came down to Thunder's aid at the Finale show. So why they are odds here...and what Geese is doing there...is a question we all have. Let's hope we can get it answered in a way that doesn't involve excessive violence.

And wow what a match! I really thought Thunder had Jason beaten earlier but Jason just kept coming back and fighting Thunder off. This really showed the will of both men and even though Thunder won, to come from behind like that like Jason did was an incredible effort. Incidentally, that choke Thunder won with was the one he beat Geese with the last time those two fought, so I'm sure it brought back some memories.

Jason and Thunder are recovering from their match. Geese and Kyle both went backstage with rather surprising non-expressions on their faces. And Jason and Thunder are just leaving the ring while still staring each other down. I don't know what's gonna happen here or backstage but it appears the issues between these two aren't over. Thunder isn't even that happy that he won, not that he'd necessarily preferred to have lost, and Jason doesn't seem that upset that he didn't win. But the fans sure got their satisfaction from that match so at least you guys leave happy! See you in September for the next Circuit Show where we'll find out who the new #1 Contender is for the NEXUS Title! This is John Randolph signing off.
