Universal Circuit - January 2011
*The Universal Battle Chamber in the Peter Venkman Memorial Arena stirs to life as blue, gold, and white confetti drop from the ceiling. John Randolph walks to the announcing desk and puts a headset on.*
[John:] "Happy New Year and welcome to the first UBL show of 2011! Obviously we are still sorting through the immense fallout from Ragnarok. And we'll get to all of that in due time. But first let's take a peek at our planned matches tonight."
Match #1: Mark Spirals vs. Jean DuBreil
Match #2: Metapocalypse vs. Golden Pair
Match #3: Koji Keo'ke/Chuck the Ripper vs. Corey O'Brian/DPT
Match #4: The Centurion vs. Orochi Geese
[John:] "Drake requested that we get right into the action and not dwell on certain unpleasant things longer then need be. Later on we'll discuss Orochi Geese's recent troubles and main event match but for now let's go to the ring where Mark Spirals and Jean DuBreil are already waiting for us: Probably the first time Jean has been particularly helpful. After all that's happened the last few weeks, we just wanted to give our fans some immediate action to bring 2011 in the right way."
[John:] "This is Mark Spirals first official match as a member of the Main Reserves. At the October Open he defeated Crimson Tide to take his spot on the Reserves. Mark is an excellent example of the hungry up and comers on this roster and we know he and his Gen X teammates are going to do great things here. Speaking of his teammates, Jayden Blaze and Tyler Jett are in the audience tonight."
*The camera turns to them and Jayden, with popcorn in one hand and a big cup of cola in another, gets up out of his seat to jump and cheer while Tyler smiles at Jayden's energy. Jayden realizes he spilled some cola on himself and quickly sits down frustrated.*
[John:] "This is as good a time as any to mention that free dry cleaning is available for UBL wrestlers. And that may come in handy given Mark's blood-obsessed opponent, Jean DuBreil. He and the rest of the Futen Tara Seitan stable have celebrated since Ragnarok thanks to Athrin Kazama's victory over his former mentor Tiger Sword in a land mine deathmatch. But Jean better not rest on his leader's recent accomplishments and better expect a fight out of Mark. Let's see how these two bring in the new year!"

[John:] "A huge victory for Mark Spirals! And the fans absolutely loved the performance of both men here. It's hard to say whether this is an upset or not because of how motivated and impressive Mark has been lately but Jean is certainly no slouch and almost took this match on a few occasions. You have to respect Jean's skills but this was Mark's night."
Mark Spirals (O) ["Spirals Crush" - 15:50] (O) Jean DuBreil
[John:] "But for how long? It looks like Jean's "Bastille of Blood" tag team partner Marquis de Douleur is coming out and we may have a 2 on 1 but wait...Tyler Jett and Jayden Blayze jumped the rail and came to their Gen X leader's aid! Marquis and Jean are backing up but in a menacing fashion. Jayden is hurling insults at both of them while Tyler is trying to get him to calm down. But Jayden was clearly not happy to see his friend and mentor Mark Spirals almost get attacked and HURLS what remains of his soda at Jean and Marquis! That' right, Jayden actually took the soda with him while coming to Mark's aid: thirsty kid. Glad to see these two back up Mark and prevent any violence. But Jean and Marquis appear angrier then ever after the soda incident. Dry cleaning, fellas."
[John:] "Let's get back to business as we're gonna have a very competitive tag match right now. Since the Universal Battalion League trophy is being converted into a traditionally defended Tag Championship, Drake wants to see which teams will stand out to earn a number one contender match. While the actual deciding Title match between members of J.U.S.T.I.C.E. won't happen til the next Circuit show in March, Drake has scheduled a number of tag matches for the next few months to figure out who deserves the first shot at the soon to be crowned Champions."
[John:] "And these two upcoming teams have impressed in the past. We have Metapocalypse, one of the most fearless and physically dominating teams in UBL, against Golden Pair, a rare combination of calculation and well...Jasper Woodruff. A man who may want Championship gold more then anyone else in UBL plus an ingenious gambler who has seen Championship success in the Dragon Pro organization. As intimidating as Jasper is, Metapocalypse won't even care. They've faced off with F.T.S. without batting an eye. These guys are bulletproof mentally but they are gonna have to watch out for Charles' tricks and Jasper's raw power. Let's get to the ring and see which team can move closer to a Battalion Title shot."

[John:] "I think sometimes Charles Langford's power is underestimated due to his partnership with the more physically imposing Jasper. And even though Charles is clearly the brains of that team, he is a rather large individual himself with a lot of bulk that he knows how to use. MARDUK was flattened by that "Ace of Clubs" spear and Golden Pair really earned that victory. You have to hand it to Metapocalypse for their fighting spirit and near falls but I think that, tonight, Golden Pair just wanted it a bit more."

*Marine's 'Baron' hits the speakers as Arthur Wingate saunters out to the ring, microphone in hand.*
[Arthur:] "It is bothersome to me when I see people repeatedly making the same mistakes without learning from them. The competitors chosen to start this new year will lead UBL down the same tired path of failure. Drake can make all the excuses he wants that Orochi Geese is having "personal difficulties" but to allow those distractions to hold UBL back is unconscionable. It causes one to ask whether or not the owner is truly invested in this operation or is merely using it for his own personal gain."
[John:] "He's on shaky ground here..."
[Arthur:] "What's even more detestable is that after being forced to jump through circuitous hoops to make it onto the main roster, I am still not offered a slot on the main show. So I pose a solution: Furnish me with an opponent or send security out to attempt to remove me. Either way, I will not break a sweat and the audience will learn a thing or two about true wrestling."
*Sergeant Drake Yoshida comes out onto the ramp with a microphone and an uncharacteristic smirk*
[Drake:] "It is clear that you have no idea how low a priority you truly are here. For the first time in your life, you are being overlooked and it must sting you badly. But the fact is UBL has far more important things to deal with then your feelings."
*The audience "ooohs" and Arthur simply shakes his head in disgust.*
[Drake:] "However, we all thank you for letting us know about your light degree of perspiration. Unlike you, there are others on this roster who don't fare as well. And it just so happens that a certain wrestler backstage was given a little bit of preparation in case you came out and ran your mouth again out of turn. So if you want some 'big' competition tonight, here it comes. Let's see if you can defeat someone in 10 minutes that you can barely lift. Or want to lift. Fresh from holiday season's eatins...Ralph Ferguson."
[John:] "Oh no...Beef pollonaise."
*The sound of a dinner bell rings through the arena as a heavy breathing and burping Ralph "Pot Belly" Ferguson comes out to ringside. He goes to shake Drake's hand but Drake just gives him a thumbs up. Ralph nods and goes to the ring. Throughout this, Arthur Wingate's expression is that of a man watching the universe vomit its own afterbirth. Ralph tries to shake Arthur's hand but Arthur slides out of the ring and tries to quiet his gag reflex. Once he comes back in, the ring bell sounds.*

[John:] "I don't know whether to feel sorry for Arthur or Pot Belly there. But once again we saw the efficiency and abilities of Arthur Wingate. I'm guessing he didn't really want to suplex Pot Belly anymore then he had to and it certainly didn't hurt his case to show the world his striking ability. Pot Belly just got knocked the fudge out."

[John:] "And we're gonna take a small commercial break. Be back soon, folks."
*Commercials air for "FPCPP: Emperor's Lament."
*We're immediately taken backstage to what appears to be the Orochi Army locker room. Orochi Geese is sitting on a bench staring at the lockers. It appears a harsh cleaning agent was used on some of them and they are now discolored. The door opens and Kyle Walker, aided by crutches, walks in. Geese doesn't turn around.*
[Kyle:] "Not even gonna check to see who walked in?"
[Geese:] "Only two of us have keys."
[Kyle:] "And at Ragnarok, only three of us had them."
*Geese turns around and his blood shot eyes glare at Kyle*
[Geese:] "Is there something you'd like to say to me?"
[Kyle:] "Don't take anything for granted. I'm just trying to keep us safe, Geese. For us and her."
[Geese:] "I know your scent. There was no danger."
[Kyle:] "Can you even still detect danger or are you just numb at this point? Furis got the easy jump on you two weeks ago and you're lucky to still be walking."
[Geese:] "I can detect danger tonight. Centurion is out to get me and-"
[Kyle:] "And you've lost the will to fight. I see it in your eyes. But you can't afford to wallow tonight, Geese. We need to send a message to our enemies that we will NOT be taken advantage of. What happened to Robin has to make us stronger and more ruthless then ever. You need to go into this match and show the world the Emperor has not fallen!"
[Geese:] "I'd rather be a pauper now if it meant Holly was ok."
[Kyle:] "I get that, Geese. But we can't hang back and wait for Robin to get better without providing some protection for her in the form of intimidation to everyone else. Centurion made some remarks about her and you need to make him pay for them. If you don't, I will. We can't have anyone thinking they can even talk about her without suffering worse then she is. It's time for a no tolerance policy and Centurion is the first victim."
*Kyle limps over to his locker and pulls out a barbed wire bat with a stapler on it but Geese puts a hand on his arm.*
[Geese:] "I'll handle it - This is my fight with Centurion. And it's on me to make this right. I understand that now."
*Kyle places the bat back. Then he pulls out an envelope and hands it to Geese.*
[Kyle:] "Also, a letter came for you before."
[Geese:] "You opened it?"
[Kyle:] "Nah, Agent 0 intercepted and opened it to make sure it wasn't a bomb. It's clean. But it's written in Japanese and neither of us could read it."
*Geese opens the envelope and pulls out a piece of paper with kanji on it*
[Geese:] "I picked up some hiragana in Japan but very limited kanji. Get this to Drake and he'll translate it. Also, when was the last time you washed your hair? You have sawdust all over your head, you look like you're fifty."
*Kyle lets out a rare laugh.*
[Kyle:] "I've been combing every tunnel and hole in this arena making sure that Gauntlet didn't set up another explosive."
[Geese:] "Smart move. I hope you had Genji accompany you though. Like you said, now is no time to expose yourself to extra danger. On that note, I'll see you after the match."
[Kyle:] "No match, Geese. Slaughter. You show the world what happens-"
[Geese:] "I know, I get it."
[Kyle:] "Make sure everyone gets it."
[Geese:] "You check with Drake about the letter, I'm fine here."
*Kyle hobbles out of the locker room as Geese gets up and starts to stretch.*
[John:] "Geese is in a rare mental state right now but we'll see more of that in the main event. For now, let's get back to the ring for a very important match. One that isn't a stand alone affair either. The two wrestlers that win here will go onto face each other at the next Circuit Show to determine the new #1 Contender to the NEXUS Championship, currently held by Julian Caesaro who was victorious at Ragnarok. But despite Julian holding the Title, he may not be the one defending it. He will be looking for a proxy to defend the NEXUS Title for him until he is satisfied with the level of competition here. Considering he barely hung onto that title against Corey at Ragnarok, I'm kinda surprised Julian has adopted this attitude. We all know he's arrogant and has started to see himself as a god but he did not decisively defeat Corey and I would say the level of competition for the NEXUS Title is the best it ever has been. In either case, whether Julian defends it himself or not, the Title WILL be defended at Battle Formation in Spring and this match will go a long way towards deciding who the challenger will be."
[John:] "And we've got an interesting encounter here regardless of the reward. Daddy Prime Time is making his return to the UBL after a brief hiatus. However, due to the incredible 3 match series he had with Damb, and his resulting victory, he has been put into this match as a top contender. He teams with Corey O'Brian, the man who came within a hair of defeating Julian Caesaro. I don't know if I've ever seen a man get SO close to victory and still come up short. Two Core Meltdowns and Julian barely kicked out. Furthermore, Corey won a match with Gene Starr, Koji Keo'ke, and Chuck Madrox to even get that match with Julian. So we're looking at someone who may be the favorite here teamed with a very hungry Daddy Prime Time."
[John:] "And their opponents are two men who have spent the last few months battling each other: Chuck Madrox and Koji Keo'ke. They split one win a piece in two impressive matches. And then they fought further in the Battle Royale. I'm not sure if their rivalry is resolved but I do know they both very much want to get a NEXUS Title shot. Enough to put their tension behind them? That is unclear. Corey and Daddy Prime Time don't have any problems and Corey even reached out to DPT to train with him. But Koji and Chuck are clearly not the best of friends. Added to that is some tension brewing between Corey and Chuck after the Battle Royale. So we have a powder keg here, especially considering the reward for winning. Let's see which team can work together and grab the victory."

[John:] "I don't quite know what we saw there but somehow Corey and DPT were on the same page at the end. Heck, they were on the same sentence! That was teamwork worthy of Battalion contendership! I know how much Corey and DPT both want a NEXUS shot but I'm just floored at how well they worked together to get themselves to the next step. As for Koji and Chuck, it was also really impressive that two rivals were able to work together at all. And they came very close to winning this but how can you defend against what we just saw at the end? Wow. Corey and DPT will now go onto face each other at the next Circuit Show."
Chuck Madrox/Koji Keo'ke (X) [Fish Stretch Sleeper - 29:38] (O) Corey O'Brian/Daddy Prime Time
[John:] "And now we come to a very strange main event. The Centurion, a man who's been on the UBL roster longer then any other man, even Orochi Geese, returns to the ring. First he was injured by Orochi Geese during the final Champions League show in 2007 and then by Kyle Walker on the Moon about a year later. Yeah, new UBL fans, you read that part correctly. The Moon."
[John:] "It is also interesting to note is that Centurion actually defeated Geese during that match in the singles league but he didn't do it alone. Along with about half the league participants who ran out to ringside to either help or hurt Geese, a man in a black mask came from the crowd and used Centurion's helmet to crack Geese in the head. That gave the Centurion the chance to win and also was partially responsible for Geese's scarred face. The "dorito breath" of Biff Mahjong in FPCPP was the other piece of his scarred puzzle. We never found out who the masked man was but we do know that Geese's loss in that match precluded him from earning a shot at winning the Universal Championship which Jack Dod later went on to capture."
[John:] "However, I doubt Geese is angry about that loss now. And after the events of the last month, it's hard to know where Geese's mind truly is beyond his concern for his long time girlfriend. At Night 1 of Ragnarok he watched Celes mentally break Robin Walker down and build her back up with a new vision. Robin lost an "I quit" match and vowed to change her ways. Then at Night 2, Figaro and Clyde defeated Geese rather handily. Seconds later, we saw perhaps the most grisly scenes we've ever witnessed in an OG-FPD promotion when Robin was seen knocked out and bleeding profusely on the ground of the Orochi Army locker room. She went into a coma shortly after. Two weeks later, Geese was brutally attacked on the FPCPP show, "Emperor's Lament," that he organized. Jakob of Furis was the culprit and came close to breaking his neck. We don't know what kind of physical shape Geese is in but he can't be too healthy given the last month. As for his mind, we all saw him backstage. This is a Geese who's emotional and mental state is a total mystery to us and maybe even to himself. Is he more dangerous then ever or too broken to even put up a fight here?"
[John:] "We do know Centurion's mental state and it is that of revenge. Geese didn't just injure him, he almost cripped him with the 'Chaos infinity Hammer' Centurion wants to end the reign of terror from the 'triumvirate' of Geese, Kyle, and Drake. And if there was ever a night that Centurion would go in the favorite against Geese, this may be it. Conversely, he may be ritualistically disemboweled by a psychotic Geese. It's kinda hard to tell. Either way, this match isn't for the kiddies, folks. Put them to bed early."
[John:] "Centurion is out first and looks very pumped up. He's clapping and stamping his feet and yelling in Latin. There's a language you don't hear yelled too much these days. In wrestling arenas no less. And wow, Geese comes out without music and without his usual gear. He's just walking to the ring with what appears to be street clothes and looks conflicted. Almost like he doesn't want to be there and yet feels he should be. This is strange to see, it's almost haunting. He has absolutely no confidence, no swagger, no fury, no intimidation in his body language. This isn't Orochi Geese, this is...this may just be a broken man. Can he mount an offence here or is Centurion going to use his ample power to put this away painfully? Let's find out."

[John:] "Ok. The absolute most shocking thing ever in UBL has just happened and the crowd, myself, I imagine just about everyone in the locker room has to feel numb. Kyle Walker and the Centurion have just obliterated Orochi Geese. I repeat, Kyle Walker has just engineered a vicious, career ending level attack on his own mentor and the boyfriend to his comatose sister. I don't know how truly hurt Geese is but it looks bad. Real bad. Kinda makes the fact that Centurion won barely register on the shock meter."
Centurion (O) ["Roman Rack Duo" - 13:10] (X) Orochi Geese
[John:] "I'm also getting word backstage mention that apparently some activity was happening there during all of this. Goro Yamashita tried to run out to help Geese but was cut off by Genji Security. I believe Kyle and Centurion were giving Goro the '1 finger salute' during the end of that 'match'."
[John:] "Of course, we now know that Kyle's leg injury at Ragnarok was completely faked. He was moving just fine here despite being on crutches backstage. And why was Kyle's hair still grey? What is going on here!? Unfortunately we have no time to answer this as more security is coming to end this entire night and I think oh, ok, I'm going i'm going! . We'll have word for you soon, folks! I don't know what this means for UBL and even OG-Joshi but it can't be good!!"

Pot Belly (X) ["Joust" - 9:23] (O) Arthur Wingate
