Session 1 - Boot Camp (Part 1)
Field Leader: Matt Rivers
I'm not big on lengthy introductions but thanks for supporting the Front Lines roster as they undergo basic training. I'll be recapping the matches that I have set up for them and, in some cases, directing you to watch recordings. Sergeant Drake Yoshida thought it would be a good idea to introduce the roster through video in two separate Battle Royales and we'll be having one here and the other during the next show. Let's get to one now.
Match 1 - Boot Camp Royale A
Tyler Alexander vs. Luke Kisiera vs. Algernon LeBlanc vs. Thomas Mills vs. Jin Onusurai vs. Fantasma Verde
Match 2 - Tenshi vs. Mickey Revell
Now we're getting to a match featuring conflicting styles: the speed and martial arts of Tenshi against the European influenced technical abilities of Mickey Revell. Both men have only had the opportunity to wrestle a few matches in UBL but Tenshi has managed to impress the fans while Mickey's efforts have largely just gotten the notice of myself and Drake. Tonight both men hope to get more attention.
Mickey clearly has more experience against strikers then he has let on. And if Tenshi's offense wasn't so unorthodox, I think Mickey would have countered the majority of his strikes. But I don't even know how Tenshi manages to connect some of those hits: some strange mix of flexible limbs and borderline lunacy. Mickey, like all technical wrestlers, has a keen mind but when it's getting kicked, it doesn't work as well. Still, Tenshi's onslaught is more reckless then it should be and Mickey gains the advantage through sheer patience. From this point on, it's Mickey's match. Tenshi will have to learn to keep himself on his feet against technical and submission wrestlers. Mickey expertly keeps him down and only lets him up to suplex him. He finally puts Tenshi away with a "false hope" german suplex. Tenshi was whipped face first into the turnbuckels and was so glad to get a moment without Mickey all over him that he forgot to act and was caught in a german suplex. Mickey looked very polished but Tenshi has some work to do. But hey folks, this is why these guys are here. To show me what they can do and allow me to help them fill in the holes in their game.
Match 3 - Gen X vs. Colt 45 Express
Jayden Blayze/Tyler Jett vs. "Hot Sauce" McRoy/Rambui Jones
We've got two quick moving pairs here. Gen X started here as rookies but with the training and matches they're getting in the Next Era Wrestling school, I think their experience has already eclipsed Colt 45 whose opportunities suffered as a result of the UBL tag team scene getting so big.
But Colt 45 hits harder and Jayden learns that pretty quickly from McRoy's kicks. Tyler, though clearly the most experienced and poised out here, has problems getting the stronger Rambui down. But when all looks lost for Gen X individually, they put their heads together and their chemistry allows them to take the match back. They seemingly choreograph some flashy but effective double team moves and neither McRoy or Jones has an answer to it. I also notice how much more intense Jayden gets when Tyler is in trouble. Put Jayden in a match alone and he seems to goof off, but when he's backing up Jayden or Spirals, his will is near invincible. Unfortunately his technique isn't. However, after working with Luke Kisiera, I've come to realize that technique can be taught, spirit can't. And though Rambui pretty much dominates him, Jayden is able to show his spirit in finally tagging to Tyler and setting up a double team standing stereo moonsault on the upper and lower body of Rambui. I'm not one to get excited by some flips but that was a sight to behold. Tyler keeps his position after the moonsault and Jayden fights off McRoy long enough for the ref to count to 3.
It's time for ME to get the ref counting now. RYOMA won the Battle Royale at Battle Formation to win this shot at my Field Leader Title. Just about everyone in the locker room has picked RYOMA to win this. Not that I'm resentful at predictions, but I kinda remember beating our current NEXUS Champion. So fans...maybe don't bet it all on the seemingly 100% chance that the sun rises tomorrow. I'm leaving that ring with my Title.
Match 4 - Field Leader Title: RYOMA vs. Matt Rivers (c)
See you at 0600 hours for part 2 of Boot Camp!
