*The scene opens to a dark room possessing just one candle. Facing away from that candle sits Joachim.*
[Joachim:] "How can one be a leader if they emulate who they detest most?
Geese Walker proclaimed himself the Prince of Propaganda and amassed many detractors. The loudest one has been Destiny's Guiding Light, Ruby Moreno. But despite her desire to get revenge on him and Robin Walker, Ruby continues to act in a way that is indistinguishable from their misdeeds. She has declared herself the mouthpiece of Destiny and uses that machinery to spread lies, manipulation, and rhetorical assumptions not supported by truth... the essence of propaganda. And they are not the only targets.
Despite what she has recently led everyone to believe. I have not turned my back on Destiny.
I am not a betrayer, least of all an apostate. I am still the chosen Path.
One thing that Ruby is correct on is the extent of our disagreement from the onset of our alliance. The main disagreements have not just been related to Destiny ideology, spiritual practices, and membership policies. Above all, we have disagreed on the relationship between our roles.
Unlike Ruby, I am not so quick to oust my counterpart. She and I were both chosen by our leader because we embody traits that He believed complimentary and important for the overall movement. Just as it is not her place to question my role as the Path, it is not my place to question her selection as the Guiding Light or the role itself. For, in publicly undermining the judgement that He displayed in choosing her, his judgment in choosing me is wounded too. But she has never realized how that principle applies to her behavior.
Unlike Ruby, I have never tried to control her in the manner she has attempted with me. Consider this a tenet of my belief. The Guiding Light and the Path are not meant to bend toward each other's will, but act in harmony. The path is illuminated but each follower must adhere to both elements to be complete. Light alone, no matter how bright, will leave one without a considered and pious way to reach it. Her grand ideas, without the temperance of my day to day rituals have led many astray, including herself.
Therefore, due to the influence that she attempted to exert, and enforce with Gauntlet, many Destiny followers left the compound. They chose not to return after the incident with the Walkers. I was one of them, as were many of my closest brethren. However, my decision was supported by our leader, in the same way that past sabbaticals of mine were guided by Him. The difference was that, this time, the Guiding Light refused to shine on my path out of spite.
I do not blame Destiny for the subsequent attack on me perpetrated by Viktor Katona. It was her behavior that followed which caused me to return acknowledging her as an enemy. Not only did Ruby refuse to check on my condition, but she actively suppressed the news of my injuries from reaching our Leader. She did this in the hope that my silence, as a result of a coma, would be seen as turning my back on Destiny. Then she began her quest to replace me with Matthew Rivers.
Rivers, your actions have cast doubt on the integrity of your career and life to many of your friends. I do not hold those concerns because you were never one to deserve much of my attention. I still believe that you are a paper champion. I defeated you handily in our initial match for the NEXUS Title and you only answered in kind after training extensively with Geese Walker. You had to reinvent your entire style and rely on the element of surprise in taking back the Title. I have no doubt that I am your superior in the ring and out of it given your submissiveness to Ruby.
Corey O'Brian, we exchanged unkind words in the past due to my alliance with Ruby. But I would like to make it clear that I had nothing to do with your friend being attacked and injured. In fat, I share your suspicions that Ruby was involved in it and would be happy to discuss my theories with you after our match. But first, I must defeat you too. I accept your placement as fellow challenger to Rivers and believe you will be the uphill battle that this path is destined for.
Your World Heavyweight Championship, a testament to UBL's past efforts to keep Destiny out, will be honored by me. I vow that I will defend that Title in a matter that makes UBL recognize the true Destiny, freed from Ruby's corruption."
*Joachim moves his hands into a prayer motion, swiftly enough that the fire of the candle behind him is extinguished.*
[Joachim:] "I do not need light to feel the way of truth. But when this is over, a purer light will shine."
*Another candle lights up in front of him that has a rose-tinted flame. The scene fades.*
