*The camera turns on and we see Barton "The Marauder" Miller sitting up in a hospital bed in a private room. He is wearing a very loose fitting grey "ubble" sweatshirt and appears to have lost about 25 pounds from the last time we saw him in July. He looks at the camera and begins to speak but then suddenly stops.
He glances down at his body, takes a few deep breaths, and steels himself for the task at hand.*
[Barton:] "It's time to put the rumors to rest by revealing the truth. Yoshirozuna did more than injure me with his version of the Particle Accelerator, he broke my neck. My twenty-five year career as a professional wrestler is over. The only goal I have right now is being able to walk and lead a normal life again. Doctors say that is within my grasp but, to sustain it, I have to give up the hope of getting back in the ring. Even if I was able to compete, the slightest injury to my neck or back could paralyze me for life. I'm not an irrational man, the choice is clear. You won't see me wrestle again. The only real solace I take is that my last match had me teamed with JET, as we competed for the Battalion Championship I have loved most of all."
*Barton takes a breath and then a drink of water.*
[Barton:] "But that doesn't mean I'm gone. I'm still JET's mentor. And I think that is what I want people to remember most about my career. Because the past few months have let me realize just how truly difficult it is to get that right.
RYOMA and I have always had a respectful rivalry in and out of the ring. It's a shame I never got to face him when I was in my prime. However, one thing we were able to directly compete over was mentoring our students. RYOMA has Kazuo Saji and Tetsu Gushiken. I have JET and had Yoshirozuna. So, RYOMA, I concede. It's pretty clear you won this competition - just look at how all of our students responded to the same test: the constant known as Kurt Sanders.
Both of your students passed with flying colors while only JET can claim the same. Yoshirozuna failed.
How do I know that? Because he allowed his mind to be twisted. He even grew to think of JET and I, his training partner and his mentor, as his enemies. That shows just how much Yoshirozuna was fully corrupted by the hatred that grew inside of him placed there by Kurt. Some of you don't quite understands the mechanics of Kurt's abilities. The 'Hurt' in his tactics, when allowed to internalize and fester, turns into 'hate." That is the equation that changed the career and life of Yoshirozuna. That is what allowed him to spit on his injured mentor. Yoshirozuna lost himself and fell to hate. Kurt won.
But it doesn't have to be that way. Kurt's results are not a constant even if his challenge is. Look at how Kazuo and Tetsu were presented with adversity. Tetsu's Circuit Title belt was stolen right off a fresh victory and Kurt proceeded to harass him for an entire year. Kazuo was extorted, with the UBL placed in peril, into taking a year off. How did we see them respond?
Tetsu regained his focus on fighting for the Championship and shrugged Kurt's tactics off. He defended that Title with honor and made its first reign special. Kazuo showed that he loved UBL more than we ever dreamed he did, and far more than he hates Kurt. Both of these men refused to allow their actions to be controlled by anger. They weren't defined by the hurt.
That means Yoshirozuna bares some blame in how he has responded Kurt's behavior all those years ago. If Tetsu and Kazuo could prevent Kurt from changing them, then Yoshirozuna could have done the same. He blames everyone but himself.
However, I still have one student left. JET Hamada never allowed his anger at Kurt for twisting Yoshirozuna to twist himself. He has also not allowed his anger at Yoshirozuna, for injuring and spitting at me, to corrupt him. JET has not lost his original goal - to win the Universal Battalion Championship for the right reasons and dethrone El Exilio.
However, I am clearly of no use to him anymore as a potential tag team partner. But it so happens, that just as I was checking out, a snake slithered back into the scene to protect us both and assist JET's with his goal."
*Barton smiles and speaks with more confidence.*
[Barton:] "El Exilio - you said you wanted to defend your Battalion Titles at 'ALL YOUR BASE.' Well, it sounds to me like we've been invited into your garden and cleared for descent into your airspace. So, thanks to Drake's approval on this matter, allow me to present your challengers and the next Battalion Champions."
*Suddenly, the lights turn off. The room slowly illuminates by just enough to see two figures.*[/color]
[Barton:] "Naja Mask and JET Hamada - now known as 'Snakes on a Plane!'"
*The scene fades to black as Naja and JET pose menacingly.*
He glances down at his body, takes a few deep breaths, and steels himself for the task at hand.*
