(Geese's note: This promo is my attempt to provide canonical reason for the fact that I won't be capping or uploading videos for the foreseeable future. I have also taken my existing videos down from Youtube. I mentioned why here. In short, any videos that are on Youtube as of 1/1/2020 run the risk of being fined unless the existing policy change or are better clarified. I have chosen not to run the risk and will rely on write-ups plus pictures moving forward.)
*The scene fades into Arthur Wingate, Drake Yoshida, Luke Kisiera, Jean Carter, and Geese Walker sitting in a conference room in the Peter Venkman Memorial Arena. While the other four are seated at a long table, Geese is sitting in one of the chairs lining the room and obsessively monitoring his phone.
Drake checks his watch and appears impatient while Arthur looks nervous. Jean reads the tension in the room, sits up straight, and knocks on the table a few times as if she was calling a meeting into order.*
[Jean:] "So, who is this person we're meeting with?"
[Luke:] "Must be important. I don't know why everyone is so nervous."
[Arthur:] "His name is Devin Kunn and he leads a government task force called the Council of American Wrestling Standards. It is overseen by the Department of International Commerce."
*Geese's eyes go wide with concern.*
[Geese:] "Are they planning on taxing you higher? Less capital means less investments!"
[Arthur:] "No, this is not a financial issue. He met with us two years ago to establish standards for professional wrestling. He threatened us into compliance with the penalty of us no longer doing business in the U.S."
[Luke:] "But you agreed to follow the rules, right?"
[Drake:]: "We did and haven't heard from him until last week when he called this emergency meeting."
*Jean looks upset.*
[Jean:] "So I guess OG-Joshi has to follow his rules too?"
[Arthur:] "He specifically requested that you attend as well as Luke, the owner of the building."
[Luke:] "Okay, but what about Geese?"
[Arthur:] "Due to Geese's sale of OG-Joshi to Jean, there may be lingering questions of ownership that Devin would hold Geese responsible under if OG-Joshi doesn't comply."
[Jean:] "And he knows Geese is, well..."
[Luke:] "A few points short of a new experience level?"
[Jean:] "Guh?"
[Arthur:] "He'll see Geese's condition for himself. And sooner than later, it appears."
*The door is opened and Devin walks in. He ignores handshake offers and stands at the head of the table with his arms placed firmly on the desk."
[Devin:] "ALL YOUR BASE was a disaster."
[Arthur:] "And yet, everyone in this room is prouder of it than any show in recent memory."
[Devin:] "Your entire tour broke numerous decency codes and 'ALL YOUR BASE' was a new low. Vampires drawing rivers of blood? Snakes spitting colored corn syrup venom at sumo wrestlers? I could shut down your promotions for the OSHA violations alone in having ninja drop from arena ceilings. And that was nothing compared to the letters our Department got because of the O'Brian vs. Agent 1 deathmatch. But the real kicker, the thing that lit up our switchboards with angry calls for two full weeks was the OG-Joshi match. Not just one, but two piledrivers with the tights pulled down? Is this smut the product you expect to run, Carter? Is this the continuation of the so-called proud legacy of OG-Joshi?"
[Luke:] "Easy-"
[Devin:] "Shut up. Carter, I asked you a question."
*Jean is initially surprised by the aggression and slouches. She takes a second to look at the supportive faces of everyone else in the room, including Geese, and takes a deep breath. She sits up again and folds her hands, looking at Devin.*
[Jean:] "That was one of the best matches I've ever seen and every OG-Joshi fan I've talked to agrees. I'm proud of what Robin and Ruby did during and after the match. In fact, you'd have to have your head in underpants to only focus on those two moves rather than the entire match and show. "
*The other faces in the room are stunned at her reaction but smile, unlike Devin.*
[Devin:] "Your arrogance is noted. However, it's also too late to matter. Wingate, Jean, from this point forward - UBL and OG-Joshi are stripped of their broadcasting and Video-On-Demand rights."
*Everyone in the room looks shocked, including Geese who actually glances up from his phone.*
[Geese:] "And how will that affect stock prices?"
[Devin:] "You're only here since your contract of sale to Carter is still being completed. But until it does, you're as responsible for what happens with OG-Joshi as she is, whether you have cognitive capacity or not. And just to make sure you know we're serious, we're investigating whether you violated the Dodd-Frank Act."
[Geese:] "I hardly think kicking the Dod Squod out of UBL is cause for federal investigations."
[Devin:] "Cute. I hope this kind of revelry entertains all of you, because you will be the only audience."
[Arthur:] "Are you saying that we can not even hold shows anymore?"
[Devin:] "You can run them locally but you can't broadcast them. You'll need the permission of my office to distribute any DVD's or audio-visual clips of your shows."
[Luke:] "Pictures and animated GIFS too?"
[Devin:] "Legal for now but you better not cripple the nation's bandwidth."
[Luke:] "What about videos posted by the fans?"
[Devin:] "We'll be targeting online fan accounts for posting videos of your promotions. You should discourage them from doing so if you actually care about their well-being. The owner of OGJoshifan.net forums has already been sent a letter making it clear what the penalty is for noncompliance."
[Arthur:] "Tell me, Mr. Kunn - Under what authority are these changes pursuant to?"
[Devin:] "The 'Protecting Online Decency Act' will be in effect starting January 1st, 2020."
[Luke:] "More like the PO'D Act."
[Devin:] "Strong language like that will be monitored going forward. Proceed at your own risk."
[Arthur:] "Since online decency is at stake, what about Los Angeles Women's Lucha?"
[Jean:] "Yeah, wasn't Ruby supposedly at your last meeting?"
[Devin:] "Miss Moreno is no longer considered important or influential enough to attend these. I was asked to fly to L.A. to meet with Gloria Reyes instead. However, they have preferred live shows for the past few years so I don't anticipate a need for them to change. If they attempt their old DVD formats, I will step in."
[Arthur:] "How long will this policy last?"
[Devin:] "Indefinitely and until we say so."
[Arthur:] "If this is your reaction to our product, I am at a loss. I'm proud of what we have done here this year. We turned the tide of debasement and ended on a high note of hope."
[Devin:] "If you continue broadcasting shows, you'll be fined until you're out of business. If I was you, I'd base your sense of pride on making the right decision now."
*Geese slowly stands up and surveys everyone in the room. He focuses on Arthur and Jean specifically and speaks with a soft voice.*
[Geese:] "There is pride to working within externally and arbitrarily imposed limits. OG-FPD started without broadcasts much as the New York Stock Exchange originally functioned without the internet. Some say technology has dulled the need for the creativity we were once forced to demonstrate to draw an audience or earn a dime."
[Devin:] "Rationalize this any way you wish, just stay compliant. If you can't survive under these new rules, then you have no one to blame but yourselves."
[Geese:] "It is sad that you believe Wingate or Carter deserve to be punished. It is laughable that you think they will actually be deterred by this. Both UBL and OG-Joshi have dealt with challenges far greater and emerged stronger. You can make the rules but you'll never understand those who are governed by them."
[Devin:] "A rare moment of lucidity for the supposed amnesiac?"
[Geese:] "You evidently haven't been fully briefed. It's not all or nothing with me."
[Devin:] "I guess we're not all as capable of finding our own thresholds as you are, Mr. Walker."
[Geese:] "It helps that I don't sell myself short-"
[Devin:] "Don't sell any more stock short or we'll be having a different conversation next time."
*Devin stands up and marches out of the room.*
[Luke:] "Don't worry, we'll find a way to make it work."
*Jean confidently nods.*
[Jean:] "Weren't you telling me once how video games didn't even have graphics?"
[Luke:] "Any text adventure worth its salt made you wish to return to it even after seeing CD-ROM quality full motion video for the first time."
[Jean:] "We just have to attract more people to the local shows and get them to follow us when they can't make it."
[Geese:] "Incentivize them properly and they'll fly in from the very moon, Jean."
*Geese smiles and Jean returns it with interest.*
[Drake:] "Geese is right. You're all right. This is a setback, but we'll recover."
[Arthur:] "I do not relish telling the locker room about this though, or the fans."
[Jean:] "We survived so much this past year with them. We're all in this together."
*Everyone in the room nods and puts on a brave face*
