(This meeting originally occurred on January 6th, 2020 and canonically predates this one by 2 months.)
*We fade into a large office complete with comfortable looking furniture. The focal point of the room is a posh, black leather couch which is currently occupied by a contemplative Geese Walker wearing business casual attire. Across from him sits the staff psychologist for the UBL, Dr. Gabriel Holt. He leans off of a backless, wooden seat that appears almost otherworldly in this luxurious room due to its inexpensive and spartan quality.*
[Dr. Holt:] “Are you quite comfortable?”
*Geese laughs in a jovial manner*
[Geese:] “Ah, my good doctor. That would have been a more pressing question a few months ago. But I must say, it is not my physical comfort that I am preoccupied with these days.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Then I take it that your body has healed? It has been over a year since ‘the incident’ with Destiny.”
[Geese:] “Recovery has completed, and I am no worse for the wear. In fact, I dare say that I am in even better shape now than I was the night I set foot in the ring to face Matthew Rivers.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Oh?”
[Geese:] “A few months before our match, RYOMA fought me with everything that he had. In some ways, that encounter was even more grueling since it was my first one back in the ring and RYOMA hits harder than Rivers did.”
[Dr. Holt:] “And yet there’s something about being attacked with your guard down that stings extra, isn’t there?”
[Geese:] “Yes but that lash has turned into light.”
*Gabriel’s eyes widen, and a hint of a smile appears on his face.*
[Dr. Holt:] “I take it you had a productive holiday then?"
[Geese:] “If you are asking whether I did my psychological recovery homework, the answer is yes.”
*Geese reaches for a monogrammed “OG” satchel at the bottom of the couch.*
[Dr. Holt:] “And which of the works on my reading list did you find the most captivating?”
*Geese pulls out a book with a red cover and Gabriel looks confused.*
[Dr. Holt:] “I do not remember assigning that to you, let alone possessing it myself.”
*Geese opens it with excitement and starts thumbing through it.*
[Geese:] “Correct, but the author is one you recommended: Carl Jung.”
[Dr. Holt:] “And yet I am not immediately familiar with the work of his that you have there.”
[Geese:] “Then allow me to present what is, elegantly named, The Red Book.”
*Dr. Holt places his finger and forefinger on his chin, nodding his head.*
[Dr. Holt:] “Ah, and therein lies the reason for my lack of immediate recognition. This is not one of his more universally known, mainstream, works of psychology is it?”
*Geese smiles and shakes his head.*
[Geese:] “No, and I would hesitate to even classify it within a formal academic field like that. Rather, you can consider this to be a form of experiential learning. It is a journey of revelation, of gnosis.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Fascinating - and what have you taken from it?”
[Geese:] “I finally understand an obstacle as a clearing. My concussion last year was a blessing, Doctor. It obliterated an artificial mental wall that had been poorly constructed over the course of my career. The bricks of it were made of illusion but they were shattered by the compression of my skull. And now, with your help, I have finally started to see the truth.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Your truth or the truth?”
[Geese:] “The inescapable truth of creation. The only way to achieve excellence is to construct it from a pure foundation rather than to build upon the corrupted roots of mediocrity."
[Dr. Holt:] “And how does that apply to your journey?”
[Geese:] “Simply - I had to be completely destroyed before I could be properly rebuilt.”
*Dr. Holt smiles wider and points at the book Geese is holding.*
[Dr. Holt:] “Is there any particular section in that book in which you got that wisdom from?”
[Geese:] “There is a section called ‘The Seven Sermons to the Dead.’ which I found particularly illuminating.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Would you tell me about it and the role it played in your growth?”
[Geese:] “I could not, by definition. It wouldn’t have any meaning if I relay it second hand. The true value of gnosis is to go on that journey for yourself and experience that spark of meaning inside of you.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Perhaps then you would lend this book to me so that we may discuss our mutual findings in the future?”
*Geese takes out a “Reading is FUNdamental” bookmark that he got from Jean Carter and places it in a certain section of the book. He then hands it over to Gabriel who looks at it intently.*
[Dr. Holt:] “Is this…is this in Greek?”
[Geese:] “Yes, Celes taught Robin and I a number of classical languages in the years we were retired.”
[Dr. Holt:] “I don’t know if I can make any of this out though. What…what’s this?”
*Gabriel points to a specific word symbol and Geese looks over at it, then smiles.*
[Geese:] “It has two different pronunciations, but the core meaning is the same. It is everything.”
[Dr. Holt:] “But what does it mean?”
*Geese gently closes the book over the bookmark.*
[Geese:] “Please - experience it all for yourself, Doctor. The knowledge will be richer if the process happens inside of you.”
*Dr. Holt turns to put the book away into his desk and a hint of a smile can be seen on his face before turning back to Geese with a more neutral expression.*
[Dr. Holt:] “It’s clear to me that you are becoming of sound mind once again…or perhaps even, for the first time.”
*Geese smiles*
[Dr. Holt:] “I would like to meet with you for one more session before making my final decision about your eligibility to return to the ring. I can fit you in for our next appointment on Friday, February 28th.”
[Geese:] “I actually have a commitment on that day.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Oh?”
[Geese:] “A friend has asked me to be the final opponent before their retirement.”
*Dr. Holt looks concerned.*
[Dr. Holt:] “I see. And this is in the UBL? Arthur allowed it?”
[Geese:] “No, it will take place in The Office promotion. My opponent will be Senator Steve Philips. But please keep this between us since the match has not been officially announced yet.”
[Dr. Holt:] “Doctor-Patient confidentiality goes a long way, so you have nothing to fear.
However, I do caution you in returning to the ring right as you have started to make such incredible progress. There is always an acute risk of re-injury after a concussion and I would not want to see you suffer a physical relapse in addition to a psychological one. It took us so nine very long months to break through that initial ‘stockbroker’ illusion that manifested last year after the concussion. Quite candidly, I entertained doubts of ever getting through to you last summer when you insisted on indulging in uncharacteristic leisure activities with your alleged new business partner."
[Geese:] “Doctor, I assure you. The progress that I made cannot be lost. It is permanently embedded in my spirit. And, I trust, the next time we meet, that you will have shared in that same experience.”
[Dr. Holt:] “It certainly sounds captivating. Thank you, and be careful, Geese.”
*Geese stands up, shakes the hand of Dr. Holt, and calmly leaves the office to find Robin Walker waiting for him. As they walk away, she sees a smirk form on his face.*
[Robin:]: “I’ll buy you an ice cream cone if you did as well on your homework as it looks like you did.”
[Geese:] “I got an A+”
*Robin smiles then rolls her eyes*
[Robin:]: “Something tells me I know what the ‘A’ stands for.”
[Geese:] “You do, but it also stands for advancement.”
[Robin:]: “It's about time! Because it better not stand for another f’n year of this lunacy!”
*Robin playfully hits Geese upside the head as the two leave the arena.*

*Thirty minutes after the appointment, Dr. Holt calls someone on his cell phone.*
[Dr. Holt:] “It turns out you can do more than just lead a Goose to water.”
*Dr. Holt smiles and the scene fades to black.*
