From the desk of John Randolph,
Hello everyone and...
Whoops? How'd that get there? I guess my throat is a little dry from lack of use.
We truly apologize for the radio silence over the past year. Things are going to change soon. The big question you all have is about the posting date for Continuum III. I'm not at liberty right now to divulge the specifics but the summer won't end without the hottest show of the Collider Tour being made available for your curious eyes.
(Yes, even if we have to physically stop summer from ending 😲)
In the meantime, we have some exciting news.
From the beginning, the UBL has prided itself in maintaining and forging good relationships with other wrestling promotions. Recently, we engaged in a multi-promotional draft of new talent and free agents. Our leaders and talent scouts did not let us down. We walked away from the draft with 8 impressive new wrestlers for our rosters! OG-Joshi also gained 2.
I am going to re-post the announcements for each UBL wrestler below.
From what Sergeant Yoshida told me, the majority of them will be placed in the Front Lines Basic Training program but a few of the drafted veterans will jump right into competition in the Dimensional Stream.
- John Randolph
Pick 1
[Drake:] "On behalf of Arthur Wingate and the Universal Battle League, I choose Jett 5. The man currently known as "Indy Omega" is a fierce competitor who possesses fighting spirit. He is very well equipped to travel far on Emperor's Road. Look for him to compete later this year in our Basic Training program for newcomers."
[John:] "We found out later that Indy Omega's name is actually Jared Omigawa."
Pick 2
[Drake:] "On behalf of Arthur Wingate and the Universal Battle League, I choose Rockaresu."
*Some talking is heard off camera which annoys Drake.*
[Drake:] "Fine. I'll call him by his official name: 'Goose Egg 4: Rockaresu.' I hardly see why I needed to say all of that-"
*Arthur Wingate is heard off screen laughing which causes Drake to clear his throat*
[Drake:] "'Goose Egg 4: Rockaresu, who will be immediately renamed before competing in our ring, had the attention of our talent scouts early on in his training. We are impressed with his progression over the past month and look forward to cultivating his talents in the Basic Training program. His enthusiasm and charisma have already...given me a headache. But there is no doubt as to his impressive combination of power and agility. We believe he will become the superstar he already swears that he is."
[John:] "Rockaresu was not immediately renamed. Drake still has that headache."
Pick 3
[Arthur:] "I am elated to welcome Jorge "Venerable" Veneno into the Universal Battle League. Senor Veneno and I have crossed paths during our career when I toured Central America. He is a veteran of this great sport with an uncommonly high aptitude for technical wrestling and a toughness that makes opponents viscerally remember their encounters with him. Although he is primarily seen as venerable now, I can remember when his nickname was originally and deservedly 'venomous.' Jorge has many lessons to pass down to the younger generation rising in our ranks: one of those certainly being that you can know every hold in the book but still prefer delivering a well placed knuckle punch right to the bridge of the nose."
Pick 4
[Drake:] "On behalf of Arthur Wingate and the Universal Battle League, I choose Jefe Millonario for our next draft choice. Jefe is renowned for his toughness and versatility. He has had great success throughout Central and South America as a tag team specialist but also has a singles wrestler. Although he is a little rough around the edges, we believe that with the right motivation he will aspire to excellence. That being said, we do remind him that his habit of bringing a switchblade to the ring is severely frowned upon in UBL."
Pick 5
[Drake:] "This shouldn't surprise anyone. Since we chose Jefe Millonario as our previous pick, we are now choosing Jefe Supreme. We wanted to unify the 'Jefe' tag team to enhance our Universal Battalion tag division. Along Millonario, Supreme has been dominant as a tag wrestler and effective in singles competition. And just as Millonario has his nasty switchblade habit, Supreme has come to the ring with a full size plate glass window. This will not be tolerated in the UBL unless he plans to come to the aid of our arena after hurricane season."
[John:] "We found out later that Jefe Supreme is also the father of Jefe Millonario."
Pick 6
[Drake:] "The Universal Battle League selects DP19 ]next. Despite never stepping into a ring before, Manuel "Manny" Gutierrez has fought for most of his life. His most recent job was as a bouncer in a New York City club where he was discovered removing Kazuo Saji for his antics. Saji was so impressed at Manny's gifts that he immediately called me at 3am. However, his drunken eye for talent was confirmed. In addition to his incredible power, Manny has impressive speed and flexibility for a man his size: which manifest through lethal kicks. And his insistence on not tolerating shenanigans will be supported by this office."
Pick 7
[Drake:] "The Universal Battle League selects Bull Barrabas next. Bull comes to us from the red hot Caribbean region where he spent most of his time in Puerto Rico. Despite his youth, he has already amassed a chilling reputation for being dominant inside the ring and dangerous outside of it. His undefeated record and string of victims attest to both. I am confident that the Basic Training program will smooth out some of his more violent tendencies so that his UBL career can be a successful one."
Pick 8
[Drake:] "The Universal Battle League is excited to select Goose Egg 1: Amaresu. He was discovered by talent scouts that alerted one half of our Battalion Champions: JET Hamada. When the two were introduced, JET was immediately impressed by Ama's versatility and agility, in addition to his obvious pure wrestling talent. Given the great esteem my office has for JET and his mentor, the Field Leader Barton Miller, I have extended the offer to JET to help train Amaresu for his UBL career. This responsibility has been accepted and we are proud to sign Amaresu to a Basic Training deal."
[John:] "We found out later that Amaresu's name is actually Sebastian Blake."
