UBL October Press Release
From the desk of Ruby Moreno:
I have a lot of news to cover, and I favor the medium of print for such undertakings.
1. We are close to finalizing and announcing the matches that UBL will contribute to the OG-FPD 21st Anniversary show.
2. Certain events that occurred during Continuum VI need attention.
- Jason Hyde and Bak Fu each deserve accolades for their hard fought, decisive victories in matches that serve as an example of what UBL is capable of at its best. Alicia Gordon and Kazuo Saji also deserve respect for their earnest efforts, resiliency, and mature reactions to coming up short.
- THRASH Ogawa and Tyler Alexander have each been fined $25,000 for fighting backstage and coming back out to the ring after the main event. They have each been fined an additional $100,000 for fighting in the crowd and endangering our fans. However, I will not void the points that they earned from their match since they were legitimately awarded for a double disqualification by the referee under the circumstances.
I am disappointed in both of them. This was no way for Tyler to return and THRASH should be setting a better example for the roster as Universal Circuit Champion. It pains me to say this, but I agree with one aspect of Thunder Strike's criticism of him. THRASH should have gone into the ring to claim the count-out victory when he had the chance. He has one of the top scores in Block C and could have come very close to clinching the second spot. If he’s truly trying to be the first Infinite Continuum Champion, he needs to quit the 24/7 fight club.
- I commenced a thorough investigation of the match between Thomas Mills Jr. and Jasper Woodruff moments after the show had ended. Although there have been public calls for me to address it and criticism for my ‘delays’ in doing so, I waited until my findings were confirmed given the nature of them and who was involved.
I now have conclusive proof that Thomas Mills Jr. has cemented a secret alliance with Kurt Sanders. The nature of the evidence consists of financial records and legal documents that I will not be publicly disclosing. I will note that Mills has used his father’s Prestige PayWall Wrestling promotion to launder funds supporting numerous projects by Sanders. Mills has also used the legal department in his father’s Mills Tribune publication to provide guidance to Sanders. Therefore, it can only be assumed that Kurt has been eschewing the “cornpone” wisdom of his assumed mentor and representation: Charles Langford. Thomas and Kurt's alliance dates back to 2020, but is unknown to Charles or Jasper Woodruff.
For those who doubt my goals or methods as owner, recognize that it has taken me just one month to uncover a conspiracy that has lasted for years. Through my lingering contacts at both PPW and the Mills Tribune, it was easy for me to unravel what has been occurring. These tools, as well as others, are vestiges of a past I do apologize for. But in using them positively, I can help UBL in a way that no one has ever been able to before. Using the example of Sanders and Mills, I have now prevented an alliance from bearing the type of rotten, poisonous fruit that could only develop underground away from other’s eyes. Just imagine if Jinchuu had been discovered before it took root! If you consider this comparison to be unfounded, recognize that just one of the projects Sanders and Mills were working on involved surveillance of other specific wrestlers on the roster. Speaking from the direct experience that only a guilty conscience can bring, an activity like that never carries good intentions. However, it is often a self-defeating exercise in the long run.
The punishment will be two-fold. First, I am placing Sanders and Mills on probation: preventing them participating in any activity other than their remaining matches in the league. They may not enter the arena unless they are specifically booked, and they are not to wander when present. Secondly, I am voiding the five points that Mills ‘earned’ in his victory over Woodruff. Mills should have disclosed his alliance with Sanders to me before the match. In his failure to do so, legitimate concerns of impropriety arose. Whether or not Sanders actively did something on Mills’ behalf to make Woodruff more ‘docile’ is an active question that I hold but is no longer relevant as to the punishment. If Mills cheated, he already lost his spoils. Once again, I do not think Woodruff was a willing participant in any of this so there’s no reason to punish him. I do recommend that he get checked out by a physician: for multiple reasons.
I will not be removing Mills or Sanders from the league. It's irreverent to remove Mills since he no longer has a numerical chance of victory. He will also be unable to influence his next opponent: RYOMA. Replacing Mills with another wrestler in Block B for just one match is an exercise of futility and further compromises the league's integrity. Despite the questionable nature as to how Sanders earned his points, his alliance with Mills was not involved. And given Sanders high point total, it would hurt the credibility of Block A and the entire league if I were to suspend him now. I will be keeping an even closer eye on their tactics but cannot support further disciplinary actions right now. I will note that if Sanders put even half of the effort into wrestling that he put into chicanery, he’d have a legitimate chance to win this league. But as we are now over ten years into his career, I find it to be ironically damning that the best we can say about him involves his ‘potential” success. At some point, observing that he ‘could’ be effective most certainly acknowledges failure.
- Despite Jasper's ineptitude against Mills, I will address criticisms that he isn't worthy of being in the league. At Third Dimension, he nearly took THRASH to a time limit draw and even came close to victory. Jasper isn’t always able to concentrate but when he is at his best, he's been more of an in ring threat than Sanders and Mills combined. He just needs the right mentor and motivation. It's clear that he can't find that in his current group, and that is unfortunate, but I have no power to remove him from it. It has to occur on his own volition.
3. L.A.W.L will be holding their annual HaLAWLoween event this weekend and I recommend that everyone watches it. I no longer derive any profit from them, so I do not see a conflict of interest in promoting the show. I believe the highlight will be Kat defending her O.M.G. Championship against Lucy Cutlass. I’ve been told Lucy will dress as Xena which may break certain disreputable fan forums. Whatever Kat’s costume will be, I am certain she will be dressed for in ring success.
