History and/or Personality:
Corey O'Brian is a true veteran of the sport, having wrestled all over the world.
He got his first big break in Japan in 2001, teaming with longtime friend and rival Jason Brody. Due to a trend of gaijin wrestlers not drawing, they wore masks and outfits, wrestling as Silver Ronin and Silver Ninja respectively. After the "Team Silver" schtick ran it's course, they both began singles careers under their real names, until Brody accidentally injured O'Brian in a match, putting him on the shelf for the better part of a year.
In 2003 Corey O'Brian would get his first mainstream exposure in RCWF, however this would be short-lived as the company would abruptly close it's doors shortly later. He would tour the independants until getting a leg injury.
In 2004 Corey would return from injury to join NHCW, quickly winning it's Regional Title (the highest singles title at the time). This company would also be short-lived as it was abruptly closed down, however O'Brian would find himself out of work only for a half hour, as he signed up with a revamped RCWF, becoming it's first Regional Champion. Eventually Corey would turn heel, under a 'second personality' gimmick where he became driven for revenge for the injury caused by Jason Brody, who was also in the company.
When THAT company closed doors, the two immediately joined a smaller organization, OWO, to continue their fued which had just begun. It culminated in two classic bouts, the latter of which an empty arena deathmatch that ended with Corey breaking his leg in three places. He would not wrestle again for over a year.
In early 2006, Corey made his triumphant return, this time to New Glory Pro Wrestling, owned by the same company as RCWF was. This time, the company would stay open for a year, and Corey would have a memorable run, winning and defending their US title despite a neck injury, running with a clique called the New Wave of Reality, and in January 2007, he would defeat company owner Tad Peters to capture the NGPW World Championship. Little did he know that Tad Peters was losing interest in the company, and would eventually close it's doors.
Since then, Corey O'Brian has been wrestling in HPWF and several short-lived independants. He would co-found the Demolition Pro Wrestling company running out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in April 2008, Corey would sign a two-year contract with UBL.
Corey also trains and mentors many wrestlers in the DPW Dojo, including several members of the DPW roster. And he has competed in the World Class Cagefighting shoot promotion, winning the tournament to become the WCCF's very first Men's Champion.
Corey may look like a typical 'hardcore brawler' wearing jeans and a T-Shirt, but he is infamous for being a well-rounded wrestler who can defeat his opponents in the standup as well as wrestling circles around his foes with his scientific knowledge and experience. He is a wrestler who can literally beat you in a million different ways.
Lately, Corey has gone from being a stalwart champion of strong style to a slightly more grim philosophy. He is now committed to the eradication of those who seek to taint the sport of wrestling. Despite this, he believes in honorable warfare, and refuses to run in or use illegal tactics, even in the name of his mission.
In 2012 instead of going to England, Corey remained in the US, under the impression that UBL wasn't going to do shows until 2013. Corey had several other commitments to fulfill in that time, including running the very first "WrestleAid" event (originally meant to raise money for Doctors Without Borders, but after Hurricane Sandy became a two-day event to support Sandy relief as well). The second (actually the originally planned) day of WrestleAid took place on UBL's first major PPV of the Wingate Era, which brought UBL's reformation to Corey's attention.
In addition to WrestleAid, Corey also worked on expanding and rebranding the DPW Dojo into the DRAGONSUPLEX Dojo in wake of DPW's hiatus, DRAGONSUPLEX being a company that Corey invested in in 2010, an "athletics clothing line" that makes both wrestling gear and street clothes. Corey also made a short-term deal with Free Spirit Wrestling, the company however closed shortly after it's second event, as well as other events in Japan, Mexico, South Africa, and his first-ever match in Norway.
Corey has expressed a desire to wrestle in Antarctica in an attempt to be the first wrestler to have held a match on all seven continents.
