The eighth show of the singles league is upon us and we only have three shows left after this! Let's go to a woman who makes sure we all have a 'good time' before this is over, "Mean" Jean Carter!
MJC: "Wait, huh? Was that even a dirty comment? What the heck, now you went and confused me!! And I was already to talk about ow the crowd is in a buzz due to the triple main events tonight! Bak Fu vs. Flip Staley has been a promised barbaric treat since the announcement of the league back in May! Then we have a huge match between two front-runners that have never met in the ring before, Jack Dod and Thunder Strike! Finally, we have OrochiGeese facing the man he tried to CRIPPLE during the previous show, Jason Hyde!! And if that wasn't enough, we have three other matches that just may entertain you in ways so subtle that you forget your own name!! Speaking of names, back to the ring, Wellington!"
Let's go to the ring for the first match where we have Centurion staring wide-eyed at Twinky McLanahan. Uh...yeah, we have the man who hasn't won a match against a legend and someone tied for the lead in this league. What can you say, that's how round-robin leagues go! Wonder how THIS one's gonna turn out..
Match #1 - Twinky McLanahan vs. Centurion
Despite Twinky's attention being mainly on his fierce opponents throughout this league, it's clear that he has been paying attention to the "bottom dwellers". We see that his homework has paid off by his unwillingness to attempt to throw his usually effective chops at Centurion's armor! Instead he goes immediately into elbows aimed squarely at Centurion's face, and Centurion is immediately rocked back. Twinky begins looking for ways to attack Centurion that turns his armor against him and settles into a confident rhythm of suplexes and throws, designed to rattle Centurion's body due to the impact of the armor hitting the mat. Centurion does get some token offense in as he uses his strength to fight out of some of Twinky's submissions attempts, but its clear who is the long time e-fed legend and who is the comedy act dressed like a 2000 year old roman. After stunning Centurion with a big chop to the face (that smarts!), Twinky picks him up for the Truck Driver Driver and plants him for the easy 1..2..3.
Twinky McLanahan (O) ["Truck Driver Driver" - 7:13] (X) Centurion
Our next match features Twinky's student Nick Strife going up against the troubled Naja Mask. Naja was very upset after losing a close match by countout against Bak Fu. Naja had put up his best fight yet but got too greedy and Bak made him pay for it. We'll see if Naja can take out his anger in this match, or if rising star Nick Strife can claim yet another victory on his quest to win this league.

OUCH. And it looked like Naja's anger served to unfocus him more then help him. As he is now laid out unconscious on the mat due to Nick's painful Anaconda Vice finisher. Naja fought but did not seem very focused this match, choosing more to brawl with Nick and try to hurt him rather then seal the victory despite having Nick fatigued throughout the match. Naja's anger was his downfall here...well that and Nick Strife submitting him the f*ck out with that dangerous Vice finisher!! That helped too!
Nick Strife (O) [Anaconda Vice KO - 20:49] (X) Naja Mask
*As Nick Strife begins to leave, Marauder comes running down the aisle in a very fowl mood. This is the second time we've seen this particular scene as Naja Mask has had a bit of a vulnerability in getting knocked out this league! Marauder begins chasing Nick Strife around the ring in anger, and as such, doesn't see a familiar figure creeping up the walkway to the ring. He doesn't see him until BAM! Nightmare connects with a vicious Busaiku knee to the side of the head of an unsuspecting and distracted Marauder! Marauder goes down and Nightmare drags him into the ring. With Nick Strife now gone and Naja being carried away, it's time for our next match which is not coincidentally, Nightmare vs. Marauder!*
Match #3 - Nightmare vs. Marauder
Marauder is already in big trouble in this match, as that Busaiku knee was aimed perfectly and hit with such force to the side of the head that Marauder appears dizzy and disorientated, along with having a major headache. Nightmare's opportunism struck again and he is reaping the rewards as the usually stalwart Marauder does not appear to be able to fight back. That is until Nightmare runs the ropes attempting another knee but Marauder actually manages to CATCH him in midair and throw him down with a powerslam! However, it soon is evident that Marauder's action was more out of blind reflex then plan, as Nightmare is able to go back to control, albeit with a sore back, without too much fight from Marauder.
Marauder does get some more offense in later as Nightmare's back gives out a bit on a suplex attempt, allowing Marauder to reverse it and send Nightmare crashing to the outside. This gives Marauder a chance to gather his mind a bit and start formulating a plan. Nightmare attempts to surprise him with a rebound dropkick to the inside but Marauder just SWATS it away and then goes on the offensive with various slams and drops, taking advantage of Nightmare's slightly injured back due to that earlier powerslam.
But it still seems that Marauder's balance is not quite right, as when he attempts an "Inertian Hammer" (Polish Hammer), he actually stumbles a bit to the side and misses Nightmare. Considering one of Marauder's great strengths are his momentum-based lariats, this does not bode well for him to be unable to even connect with it due to the head trauma he suffered from the earlier Busaiku Knee. Nightmare takes advantage of the whiffed Hammer and dropkicks Marauder to the knee, sending Marauder's head crashing down to the mat once more as he screams in agony. Nightmare hits one more Busaiku Knee to attempt to seal the victory and goes for the pin but Marauder's great spirit causes him to kick out of it, throwing Nightmare off his body some six feet away in a fit of rage. Nightmare realizes there's only one way to end this match and he once again picks Marauder up. This time Nightmare stretches his own back a bit before lifting Marauder up with that leg-lift style brainbuster that has put away many opponents in the past. He drives Marauder right on his head, and it appears that Marauder has been knocked out, much like his cohort Naja Mask. Nightmare covers and gets the 1...2...3 in what many will call an opportunistic victory!
Nightmare (O) [Leg Lift Brainbuster KO - 11:23] (X) Marauder
Nightmare quickly leaves the ring looking around somewhat suspiciously. But with Marauder's ally Naja Mask also knocked tonight, it does not look like anyone would try to retaliate anyway. One thing we know for sure is that this grueling league is causing many injuries among participants, and we're about to experience a match where it is likely that neither man leaves the ring on his own two feet.
Bak Fu and Flip Staley have never faced each other before in the ring but were immediately at odds when this league took shape. Flip Staley was then under the dollar of OrochiGeese while Bak was one of the men that OG had been at odds with since last year. These two men are both known for their mixed martial arts prowess and their overall ferocity and violence. Bak Fu is "Mr. Head Drop" and Flip Staley developed quite a reputation in the mixed martial arts world, eventually being thrown out due to his behavior. Many have been awaiting this match throughout the league and now we will finally get it. Whoever claims this victory will likely have to simply outlast their opponent or knock them out all together. Bak's striking may actually be outmatched by Flip's, but Flip's penchant for violence may seem like a walk in the happy bunny park compared to Bak's headdrops and overall non-stop aggression. And here to referee this match is new UBL referee Anji Yukyuzan who is no stranger to a knock-down, drag-em-out fight, and will be sure to give each man enough latitude to do what they feel they need to do to win this match, no matter how shocking.

And 'shocking' is exactly the word to be used as Bak shocked Flip by reversing Flip's own attempt at a submission move into a quick victory! Flip dragged Bak down into his guard but Bak, no stranger to mixed martial arts positions, immediately took advantage of his opportunity by floating over into a pin to hold Flip down!! In the end, despite the fact that they were in a fight, it was Bak Fu who had the wherewithal to realize what it took to win a wrestling match. The two of them fought tooth and nail and it looked like Flip may have actually sealed victory earlier with his trademark Brainbuster, but Bak showed his inhuman resilience and sailed towards victory in a custom made sailboat!
(Yeah, just be glad I didn't make the obvious "Ba(c)kFlip joke...oh wait.)
Bak Fu (O) [Guard reversal into pin - 16:42] (X) Flip Staley
And our next match features two of the men most likely to win this league. Before tonight, Jack was tied for the lead with Twinky whereas Thunder Strike was just a few points back from the lead. These two have never faced each other in a formal match before but have been at each other's throats during post-match attacks and saves (by Jack and Thunder, respectively). Thunder Strike knows the threat that Jack is while Jack has to take Thunder Strike more seriously then he has many others here in his nonchalant and easy victories. Jack has to bring his A-game while Thunder Strike can't be distracted by Jack's shenanigans.

And Jack Dod pulls one over on Thunder Strike!! After both men took some of each other's biggest offensive onslaughts and moves, Jack Dod outwitted Thunder Strike by going for a pin attempt when Thunder Strike wasn't expecting it. Though the earlier low blow certainly took Thunder Strike's mind out of the match and Jack capitalized on it with the element of suprise!! Thunder Strike does deserve credit for fighting out of the Four-Figure leglock, DodSmack, and two attempts at the Chair Illusion, but in the end, it was Jack Dod's bag of tricks that won him yet another crucial match in this league.
Jack Dod (O) [Low Blow - 23:01] (X) Thunder Strike
*Jack Dod leaves the ring maniacally laughing as Thunder Strike writhes a bit on the ground clutching his uh...tender parts. Jack makes the international "belt is mine" pose as the crowd is forced in thought about the high possibility Jack may JUST.BE.RIGHT about his prediction. Thunder Strike gets up and sneers as Jack Dod, but he holds back on chasing him, as if to save his energy.*
That may be because our next match is one that Thunder Strike is keeping a close eye on. A match that perhaps distracted Thunder Strike in his preparation for his match with Jack Dod, even (though I doubt Thunder Strike would make such an excuse even if this narrator suggests it for his benefit!) For the last few months, OrochiGeese swore to end Jason Hyde's career, and he may have just that chance right now. And after Thunder Strike's recent words, you have to believe that he's gonna be watching the back of his ally Jason in case things get too out of control. Because right now it's all about Jason Hyde facing his attacker from last week, and a top leader in this league, OrochiGeese. This rivalry has been brewing ever since the third OG-FPD Anniversary Show last December where Jason Hyde interfered on his sister's behalf to save her from a violent attack by Crimson Mask. OrochiGeese did not approve of Jason's valiant save and instead saw it as interference that disrespected OrochiGeese and his show. A war of words escalated from there and culminated in Jason Hyde backing up Thunder Strike and Jang Bae against Geese on Voltage earlier this year. OrochiGeese finally got so angry that he offered Jason a spot in the UBL with the sole intent of ending his career. And after numerous attempts, OG may finally have the chance now in a one-on-one match. But Jason Hyde has shown great skill and determination in this league, winning a number of big matches he was not expected to. Geese is a legend, no doubt, but Jason Hyde has shown how his fire and heart can lead him to huge victories. Can he raise his game to the occasion once again to prevent Geese from critically injuring him, and maybe even DEFEAT him in the process? Let's go to the ring and find out!
