Universal Champion League 2007 OUT-TAKES show.
These days NO form of digital media entertainment is complete without seeing humorous or random out-takes that went awry during the original production. UBL is no exception to this!
I video simmed many MANY matches throughout this league and got results I was quite happy with overall. However, as we all know, FPW is a bit of an imprecise tool for e-feds. That is to say, it's not a booker's best friend. I got many matches that were great but didn't quite yield the outcome I was looking for. Usually this happened when the wrong wrestler won, but sometimes there were other reasons I didn't use a match. However, it would be a shame that these matches wouldn't be seen by any eyes besides mine! So I now present SIX of my favorite matches of the year that DIDN'T make it into the singles league. I will also give the date of that planned matchup and the reasons for not using that specific video. And I'll give some "director Commentary" that is deliberately vague until you see the videos (so as not to spoil them).
Bak Fu vs. Marauder
Scheduled Show Date - 6/3/07
Why I didn't use it: Booking reasons. The person who actually won this video match wasn't scheduled to.
Miscellaneous: I simmed this match a lot and was always blown away with how physical it was. So much so that I simmed this for fun after I no longer needed a video. I actually had a rematch pegged for the 4 Year Anniversary PPV but decided to go with the 3 on 3 match instead to lead into the Battalion Tag League. But I suspect we'll see another Bak Fu vs. Marauder match in the not too distant future.
Jason Hyde vs. OrochiGeese
Scheduled Show Date - 9/9/07
Why I didn't use it: Booking reasons. The person who actually won this video match wasn't scheduled to.
Commentary: OG was vicious as hell (especially at the end) and Jason never backed down.
Jason Hyde vs. Jack Dod
Scheduled Show Date - 9/23/07
Why I didn't use it: Now this was quite an odd situation. Dragonkin and JD can back me up on how much time I spent dealing with this! Basically, the guy who I wanted to win this match did indeed win it and both guys looked very strong throughout. But the ending was somewhat catastrophic, despite being very decisive. It was a problematic ending cause I wanted the loser of this match to eventually make it to the tiebreaker finale. And I felt his status and physical prowess would have been too damaged from how this match ended.
Twinky McLanahan vs. Marauder
Scheduled Show Date - 10/7/07
Why I didn't use it:: Booking reasons. The person who actually won this video match wasn't scheduled to.
Commentary: I had just recently re-edited Marauder and I don't know exactly what did it but he and Twinky started to have intensely aggressive matches! This match was in the same run of matches as the one I ended up using for real. But these two really pushed each other hard and had a nice brawl!
Jack Dod vs. Marauder
Scheduled Show Date - 10/21/07
Why I didn't use it: Booking reasons. The person who actually won this video match wasn't scheduled to.
Commentary: If you've already seen the other matches, you are probably shaking your head and asking why the loser of this match can't catch a break! I got this match well before the one I ended up using. And if you have seen THAT one (which, in my opinion, was one of the top 3 matches of the entire League), then you would know why I held my breath when the same move was attempted that ended this match the way it did! Luckily, not with the same results, though. And even if I did have the winner of this video match scheduled to win, the ending would have been the same situation as with the Jason/Jack Dod match!
OrochiGeese vs. Thunder Strike
Scheduled Show Date - 10/21/07
Why I didn't use it: Had the right winner but I wanted a slightly more decisive ending.
Commentary: The match I ended up using is one of my favorites of the whole league. But I thought this match had a lot going for it also. I just love watching these two go at it in the ring cause their storyline hatred for each other comes across in the matches. This has been the feud I've worked on most all year so I just like seeing what FPR does with it. And we've got at least one more singles match between them at scheduled for the upcoming OG-FPD 4 Year Anniversary PPV! And that's in addition to the huge Universal Championship Tiebreaker match between Twinky and Jack Dod!! See you at the Anniversary Show!
