The Universal Battle League has 3 of it's own referees and 2 that it shares with OG-Joshi. Each referee handles a certain type of match according to their own stats and abilities:
Sergeant Drake Yoshida
Although Sergeant Yoshida is the highest ranking members of the referees (being UBL Sergeant and all), he tends to avoid overseeing the main event matches due to his own physical frailty. He enjoys refereeing matches with rookies as well as matches where he has a personal score to settle and is fairly confident that he'll be protected by one of the wrestlers. He prefers singles over tag and is very strict in keeping order over multi-person matches due to risk of personal injury to him and not wanting to lose control and authority. He will not referee many matches due to obvious conflict of interests (like a match with Geese) and often utilizes a 15 minute time limit for singles matches, the shortest of any ref chosen time limits.
McGuirk
McGuirk is known to get distracted during matches and due to his age, has lower walking speed them most. He's also very comfortable having the match turn to a total melee. As a result, he's given matches of lower card significance, matches with rookies, or matches where Drake doesn't really care what happens.
Anji
Anji was a Title match ref but given his expertise with keeping things in control, has been entrusted with presiding over matches where grievous injury could occur. Hardcore matches, Last Man Standing, and any match where there is a major grudge is trusted to Anji to make sure both competitors come out alive. He gives just enough flexibility to allow them to settle their score but knows when to reel them in.
Himura
Himura's great speed and instincts allowed him to be one of the best tag match refs of both UBL and OG-Joshi. So he has now been assigned permanent tag duty for both title and non-title matches. However, if needed on larger cards, he can still officiate a top singles match as well.
Saito
Saito is a newcomer to UBL but his authoritarian attitude impressed Drake so much that he gave him the position of officiating singles title matches. He does not put up with any nonsense from wrestlers and in the rare case he has a tag match, he treats it more like a 2 on 2 match by disallowing partners much teamwork time. And if an eliminated wrestler attempts to distract him, they will be in for a nasty up close surprise.
