History and/or Personality
RYOMA appeared in the Universal Battle League without much prior notice but immediately made an impact. He was the first UBL representative of Miss Asako Matsuki's "Matsuki Holdings" investment group which currently includes Kazuo "Chrome" Saji as well as OG-Joshi's Narai Kaeo, Hae-Won, and Sako Dasumi. After a great deal of initial success in the year he participated in the US version of the UBL, he became one of the first roster members to eagerly follow it to England after Orochi Geese sold it to Sir Arthur Wingate. RYOMA also wrestles in Super NOVA, Azteca Pro, and Kirin Dojo.
RYOMA wants to bring back to UBL the stoic, hard-nosed, and more reserved glory of puroresu that it once had when it was based in Japan. Although he does not talk much, his primary message is to poetically remind us of the value of competition...and that he is the personification of the sun. His imposing physique and allows him to do most of his talking in the ring, which is a welcome change from Miss Matsuki's "say anything that enters your mind"disorder philosophy.
RYOMA's best singles matches to date include wrestling Nobu Nakazawa in Super NOVA (and later teaming with him), wrestling K in Azteca Pro, and challenging Matt Rivers in UBL for the Field Leader Title: the match that put RYOMA on the map. His victory over Corey O'Brian in 2014 cemented his status in the UBL main event picture.
RYOMA is the "rock" that holds Matsuki Holdings together. Their members misbehave less around him and they admire his work ethic in the ring. He is a true rising star in the industry, touring the world and winning titles. His "Sun and Moon" team with Nobu Nakazawa has already captured two separate Tag Team Championships and hold them simultaneously. His team and mentorship with Kazuo Saji in the UBL came close to capturing the Universal Battalion Championship in late 2012 after making it to the finals of the tournament. Most blamed Saji for the loss but this team has not seen their last shot at gold.
RYOMA graduated to the UBL NEXUS Title roster based almost entirely on praise from Undisputed Champion Matt Rivers. When your biggest rival says you deserve to be in the big time, then you have been significantly impressive. RYOMA hopes to compete for Matt's NEXUS Title much as he competed for his Field Leader Title, but a little more successfully.
RYOMA's future in UBL and the entire pro wrestling world is as bright as the sun, provided it's Nobu who is the one providing lunar support, rather then Kazuo giving us all his full moon.
12/11/13 update: At Battle Formation, RYOMA and Nobu Nakazawa defeated the Marauder and JET Hamada to capture the Universal Battalion Championships! This marks the FOURTH simultaneous Tag Championship that the two hold!
4/19/14 update: They held the four titles simultaneously for four months AND defeated the FPCPP Tag Champions (in a match that wasn't for those Titles) before they lost both the Azteca and Kirin Tag Titles in April. The "Grand Slam reign" is over. Long Live the Grand Slam legacy!
6/8/14 update: At the June 2014 Circuit Show, RYOMA was defeated by Corey O'Brian in the final match of the "Best 2 out of 3" series for the UBL Heavyweight Title. However, RYOMA immediately rebounded by winning the first singles Championship of his career, the Azteca Warrior Championship at the "80 Blocks From Koji's" event.
