Character and History
There are only a few things known about Tenshi's past.
1. He was a warrior monk.
2. The monastery he belonged to was the only one in Southeast Asia to also make pretzels.
3. For a period of 10 years, Tenshi made pretzels 6 days a week for 20 hours a day.
4. The rest of that time he seemingly devoted to martial arts and unsuccessfully warding off insanity.
He joined Orochi Geese's UBL in 2011 and made somewhat of an impact in Orochi-O's TV matches against Hannibal and Fantasma Verde. After the promotion was sold to Arthur Wingate, Tenshi followed to England with the hope of well, we don't really know. He doesn't say much, or anything at all actually. His work in the UBL dojo was impressive but he did not communicate beyond basic ring gestures and the occasional gift of a home-made pretzel to Field Leader Matt Rivers. On more then one occasion, Tenshi was actually seen twisting a pretzel while wrestling in the ring. This earned an admonition from Matt and Juan Leche.
Tenshi's style is based around martial arts with a focus on arm work setting up intricate submissions and throws. He literally tries to twist his opponents into a pretzel during matches but luckily does not attempt to salt or eat them. His in ring concentration appears sharp despite his obviously scarred psyche. Traces of his old mysticism and stoicism can be found in the way he wrestles and the more serious names of some of his moves, while others clearly reflect his now "twisted" mind. You never quite know what you will see from Tenshi in any given match. Will he show up aggressive and practically undeterred by pain? Or will he be running around the ring hallucinating his old days in solitude? And what's with the face paint? Did he have to don it for safety reasons when making pretzels or is it part of his spiritual beliefs? So many questions...none of them comforting to have to ask.
It was with great wonderment that he and Lucha La Barba, another wrestler possessing questionable mental faculties, won their first Championship together during the Azteca Pro "Lucha Fantastica" event. They captured the Kirin Pro Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships despite not saying a word to each other during the match. We don't even know if they are even friends or just respect each others silence. They also both have beards so some base kinship is implied. While their team, "We Have beards," will compete in the UBL for the Battalion Championships, Tenshi will also continue in the Basic Training program attempting to win the position of Field Leader. How he would actually lead this division is a question no one can imagine the answer to. But hopefully Tenshi meditates on that scenario so that the UBL Dojo doesn't become a pretzel making factory.
Because once that happens, Ralph Ferguson would be on the next aircraft carrier to England.
