____
Character Alignment: Stoic tweener managed by Archibald Snow.
Entrance Theme: Various types of Sherpa music exist but Wang prefers traditional devotional type songs. However, he does not believe it should be used for ring entrance entertainment and so he prefers to walk to the ring in silence.
Character and History:
Wang Gom-Bu was first brought to the attention of UBL thanks to his manager, Archibald Snow. Archibald scouted Wang during a mountain-climbing trip in Nepal, helped train him to wrestle, and convinced Arthur to give him a UBL contract.
Wang is a Sherpa of very strong mental focus and a stoicism that stands out even in UBL. While he is one of the largest and most powerful men in his village, his determination is what has been most respected about him by his peers. Wang looks to bring that resolve to the UBL to help him learn the sport of professional wrestling better.
Wang is not very tolerant of those who he believes are disrespectful towards the Sherpa lifestyle and the dignity of the mountains they guard. There have been reports of him refusing to help tourists after they unintentionally insulted and dismissed the spiritual accomplishment of the climbing task itself. And there was even an unconfirmed tale of him throwing someone OFF the top of Mount Everest (not all the way to the ground below...but still) because he felt they were unworthy to climb it. Future opponents would be wise to heed these tales. And really, as a free life lesson from UBL, if you ever find yourself governed by gravity and climbing a giant mountain with a big dude near you, it's not the wisest survival strategy to hurl insults around.
Wang's only competitive weaknesses are his inexperience and lack of relative speed. But that did not stop him from winning his first few matches. Despite being unfamiliar with various holds, Wang's limbs are so difficult to manipulate and his mental resolve so tough to break that submissions are practically useless against him. If you want to have a chance to defeat him, try to knock him down long enough with strikes, sudden slams, or a wrecking ball.
For a man who not only climbs mountains but actually carries others on his back, not even the sky is the limit for Wang Gom-Bu.
(Now let's all take a moment to reflect on our good fortune that Mr. Figaro is no longer doing commentary...)
