Hello folks, this is John Randolph resuming Universal Access commentary duty. Tonight we are taking a break from the Universal Circuit Title Tournament to bring you another match with Championship implications. At "Lunar Eclipse of the Heart", Palida Fantasma and Yoshirozuna of El Exilio will be facing Jack and Jeff Monroe of Destiny to crown the new Universal Battalion Champions. Tonight, Palida will face Jack Monroe. Last month at the Base 11 event, Yoshirozuna defeated Jeff Monroe. However, the match itself was not the most notable part of their interaction. The two teams went at each other in a brawl, culminating in Palida using his new weapons of choice, Eskrima style baston sticks. The most shocking part of all this is that we haven't heard anything publicly from Ruby Moreno protesting Palida's actions. I've heard that she has been on the phone constantly with Thunder Strike, our head of security, and Arthur Wingate, our owner. But the Ruby Moreno of the past few years would have bought her own TV station just to run around the clock denouncements of what El Exilion did. Her public silence is probably the most eerie thing about this situation. Furthermore, you'd think that Jack and Jeff would want revenge themselves but they haven't made any public challenges either. Arthur is the one who put this match together, out of a sense of symmetry to match Yoshirozuna facing Jeff. However, he did make it abundantly clear to all four wrestlers that he has zero tolerance for any kind of violent antics before, during, or after this match. If there is any interference, post match attacks, or weapons of any kind, then the offending parties will lose their opportunity to compete for the Universal Battalion Championship. The stakes are high as are the expectations. Neither of these men have wrestled a singles match in a UBL ring for at least two years now. We've seen what they can do in tag matches, as they both contributed to their teams making it to the Finals of the Battalion tournament last year. But they are both still untested in one on one situations. Palida's last singles match was a loss within 15 minutes against the then NEXUS Champion Joachim in 2014. And Jack Monroe hasn't faced anyone of note on his own. I have no idea what to expect from this match, especially with the El Exilio hatred of Destiny and the strange behavior of Destiny over the past year. Let's go to the ring and find out how this transpires! Match - Palida Fantasma vs. Jack MonroeMatch results and reaction below:
I wasn't cheering for either of these men but I was very impressed by their tenacity.
Palida made a massive comeback after being hit by some of Jack Monroe's biggest moves before ten minutes had passed. In fact, this was the frst time that we've ever seen the fabled "Summit of All Fears" Muscle Buster of Jack Monroe. I think he did it intentionally early to punish Palida but it was still impressive that the match didn't end right there. And what a run by Palida that was punctuated by that beautiful hurracanrana outside the ring!! Since returning to UBL, Palida has cut down on his aerial moves to spite the audience but he pulled out some big ones here tonight, winning with that incredible corkscrew senton.
Palida Fantasma (O) [Corkscrew Cannonball Senton - 16:59] (X) Jack Monroe
Each man chooses to peacefully leave the ring and there are no extracurricular activities tonight. It looks like they want to compete for the Championship at "Lunar Eclipse" more than they want to lay waste to each other. That's an encouraging sign, to say the least.
We will return in a few weeks with another first round match of the Universal Circuit Title Tournament!

Hello folks, this is John Randolph excited for the first Access match of the summer (and 2019...yeesh!) At last month's stop on the Debased tour, Tetsu Gushiken suffered an embarrassing submission loss to his rival, Kurt Sanders. While that did not affect Tetsu's Universal Circuit Championship status, it certainly was the first dent that has appeared in his armor in a while. Even Kurt Sanders robbing Tetsu of physical possession of that belt after "Lunar Eclipse" wasn't anything that reflected on Tetsu. But for a man that has already dealt with Kurt's shenanigans, it was surprising that Tetsu fell for the handshake into cross arm breaker trick. Tetsu hasn't said anything since that match. And while he has traditionally been a man of few words, he had recently come out of his shell. That is why I am surprised he has remained silent. However, it is possible that he has not said anything due to a recently arisen legal situation I have heard of involving Sanders, Matsuki Holdings, and UBL (call the ubble hotline to find out more about that!). In any case, you have to believe that Tetsu is coming into this Title defense tonight hungry to start a new streak of victories after Kurt broke his old one. Jean DuBreil has been struggling to gain victory and some renewed sense of direction as of late. With the Futen Tara Seitan stable apparently disbanded, and its other members in the wind (perhaps literally for some of them), Jean has gone it alone over the past few years to no success. This was made light of by Sirius Mask in an interview conducted by me. Sirius said: The big question is whether Jean DuBreil can make a legitimate impact on his own in his remaining time as a singles wrestler in the UBL. Certainly he would come up big by beating Tetsu and winning the Circuit Title, but it takes more than just one victory to reorient a career. Jean's old reliance on believing he had voodoo powers certainly fit the FTS bill but does not seem geared to defeating a newer generation of wrestlers that don't seem to acknowledge the supernatural, let alone be afraid of it. Given my own experiences with a certain vampire, I'm not suffering from any nostalgia for the old era. Let's see whether Jean can take advantage of a Tetsu who may have had his confidence slip just a little bit. Match - Jean DuBreil vs. Tetsu Gushiken (c) Match results and reaction below:
Wow, what a finish! With just 10 seconds to go in the match before mandated 20-minute time limit was up, Tetsu scores the pin after hitting his new "Matsuki Knee" (Nomisugi Knee). You also gotta take into account that knee bash from behind. Perhaps that was an homage to his mentor RYOMA's "ECHO Lariat" due to the powerful duo of knee strikes hit to end this match.
However, this was in no way an easy match for Tetsu. And, from my viewpoint, this victory was more about his resiliency than his offense. I counted more than five instances of Jean applying very painful looking submission holds to every part of Tetsu's body. You have to be impressed by what Jean was able to do here. Despite the loss, people are going to take Jean more seriously after his effort and performance in this match. Nearly taking the reigning Universal Circuit Champion to a draw, and twisting him like a still salty (from the loss to Kurt) pretzel for a large portion of the match, speaks to Jean's never questioned abilities and continued motivation. What he channels those into is anyone's guess though.
Jean DuBreil (X) ["Matsuki Knee"- 19:50] (O) Tetsu Gushiken
We will return in two weeks with the Debased event for July. See you then!

This is John Randolph and I'm here with a new Universal Access match for August! Tonight is the debut of Newfie George who recently came over to UBL from ZIP Japan. George has impressed everyone during his tenure with ZIP and, with them currently on hiatus, he was eager to join into the fray here. George appears to be a fisherman. This, of course, proves that Sergeant Drake Yoshida actually does have a sense of humor given who he booked for Newfie's opponent for tonight: none other than the "Wet Samoan" himself, Agua! I don't really know what to make of this match-up. We haven't seen Agua in a UBL ring in a long time. He is still on the Front Lines, from what I know. George's deal with UBL, brokered by ZIP, immediately put him on the NEXUS roster. But George shouldn't underestimate the soaking Samoan. I've seen Agua show remarkable resiliency, especially in the head area. Yes, he's absolutely covered in wet leaves and chum and drug-resistant bacteria, but he's also fearless. I have no doubt that George had dealt with his fair share of watery obstacles but I bet he's never reeled up a surprise like Agua while fishing! Let's see if George's first fishing trip in the UBL ocean turns into nostalgic late summer memories or turns into Jaws ... or, * gulp* even worse, Sharknado, if Agua completely forgot how to wrestle. Match - Newfie George vs. Agua The Wet SamoanMatch results and reaction below: Wow, this match was higher octane than I was expecting. Newfie George proves he belongs on the NEXUS roster with his punishing style of offense and patient resiliency, showing an almost deranged lack of fear in the face of an aggressive sea monster. For his part, Agua hit hard and early. I don't think Newfie was expecting two rope-assisted Samoan splashes in this match. Agua gave himself many opportunities to win which would likely have worked against someone with less grit. You have to give Agua credit too for his endurance. I thought Newfie's running lariat sealed the match and was shocked when Agua kicked out. It came down to both men going toe to toe and Newfie winning that exchange with another powerful lariat to seal the victory.
Newfie George (O) [Striking Lariat - 15:31] (X) Agua The Wet Samoan
Although Newfie won, Agua proved that he still belongs on this roster. With the right inducement and maybe a little strategy, I still think he has an upside here. I recall that weirdo, Herb N. Ledgehand, trying to recruit Agua. And while I don't think he was a helpful influence, Agua would definitely benefit from some sense of guidance or management in his career. As for Newfie, he appears to prefer fish alone and I don't think that will be a problem given his abilities and determination.
We will return in a few weeks with the Debased event for September. See you then!

Hello folks, John Randolph back here with the Universal Access match for October! Tetsu Gushiken is defending his Universal Circuit Title match tonight for two reasons. There is a contractual stipulation that the holder of this Title must defend it on every event that has at least three matches. However, that stipulation is temporarily waived if the Champion agrees to defend the Title in a match within a month of that event. Two weeks ago, at the September Circuit Show, Tetsu teamed with RYOMA and THRASH Ogawa to defeat Kurt Sanders, Jasper Woodruff, and the returning Charles Langford. Since the Title wasn't defended in that match, Tetsu has agreed to defend it tonight. The reason he is specifically facing Thomas Mills is because Tetsu promised to defend his Title against everyone who was involved in the Universal Circuit Title Tournament last year. He wanted to prove that he could defeat everyone and not just the three opponents in his path based on his seeding. So far, Tetsu has successfully defended his Title against everyone in that tournament, having just defeated Wang Gom-Bu a few weeks ago. If Tetsu can defeat Thomas Mills tonight and THRASH Ogawa during the October Circuit show, then his mission this year will be complete. Provided he is then able to defend his Title against Kurt Sanders at "ALL YOUR BASE" in December, then Drake will start randomly assigning his competition. Tetsu has been doing double-duty for much of this year, defending his Title in matches against his fellow tournament participants and also dealing with Kurt in grudge tag matches. And given the fact that Sanders and Langford recently forcing Tetsu's friend, Kazuo Saji, to temporarily leave UBL, you have to believe that Tetsu is a little distracted right now and looking forward to facing Kurt one on one. For his sake, I hope he doesn't overlook Thomas Mills tonight. Matt Rivers once believed heavily in the ring ring potential and growth of Thomas Mills. Despite an inauspicious start in the UBL as a spoiled, silver spoon layabout, Mills has slowly and quietly rebuilt himself into a mature and legitimate competitor in the ring. He combines impressive technical ability with a new aerial dimension to his offense. He is also incredibly intelligent in and out of the ring. He just has yet to make a real impact despite returning to UBL from a very successful run in Prestige PayWall Wrestling, owned by his father. While Thomas had an impressive victory over Tsaoring Chou in a match held after the September Circuit Show, he still is chasing that defining moment in his UBL career. Obviously, defeating Tetsu tonight would be that moment, at least up to this point. But win or lose, I have no doubt that Mills will compete his hardest tonight and show his growth. Whether or not that will be enough to beat the Champ is the real question. Match - Thomas Mills vs. Tetsu Gushiken (c) Match results and reaction below: The Champion claims yet another victory in an incredibly hard fought match!
Thomas Mills threw everything that he could against Tetsu, including multiple submissions like his stump puller finisher. He also showed off an impressive senton from the top rope that almost defeated the Champion. Mills also had everyone on their feet, holding their breath, during a surprise flash pin late in the match.
But Tetsu persevered and wowed with an impressive arsenal of his own, including that increasingly deadly rainmaker knee and, of course, his finisher. The "Tetsu Shock" has become one of the most reliable and feared maneuvers in the UBL over the past few years. Opponents say that not only is the "knee stunner" technique itself debilitating, but the fact he often launches himself from an angle they don't see makes it very difficult to defend against.
Thomas Mills (X) ["Tetsu SHOCK"- 20:18] (O) Tetsu Gushiken
You have to give Thomas Mills credit here for making it not just close, but nail-bitingly so. Tetsu will go on to face another stiff challenger when he defends his Title against the hands, feet, and head of THRASH Ogawa
We will return in a few weeks with the Debased Event for October!

Universal Access is back with a match that has repercussions for the Infinite Continuum Championship! JET Hamada joined Block C of the Continuum league late after replacing Tetsu Gushiken. Up to that point, Tetsu had defeated Charles Langford and lost to THRASH Ogawaa. Not content with carrying over Tetsu's record, JET Hamada challenged Charles and THRASH to new matches. Charles Langford initially seemed to reject the challenge but then mysteriously went to Arthur Wingate's office to later accept it. So this match is on! If JET Hamada wins, he keeps the 5 points that Tetsu initially earned in his victory over Charles. If JET loses, then Charles earns the points. This match was a special attraction held on its own, separate from a full event. After JET came out to the ring, there was a delay in the arrival of Charles. After a few minutes, he came out to the ring but was joined by a smirking Kurt Sanders. This elicited loud jeering from the audience as they feared witnessing the same shenanigans we saw at Continuum IV. As soon as Charles got into the ring and faced the imposing JET, he seemed to get cold feet. Langford asked for a microphone and backed off, requesting that they reschedule the match. JET said he's always ready to compete and that this proves Charles is a charlatan. JET said that if Langford were any more chicken, he should change his name to Colonel Charles Sanders - that way he'd be related to Kurt too. The crowd loved this. Charles said that JET has insulted both of their honors. Kurt actually got up on the ring apron and it looked like we may get a 2 on 1 before the match officially started. However, Goro Yamashita ran out to the ring and chased Kurt Sanders all the way to the back! In truth, his panicked gait resembled a nervous, rabid chicken so maybe JET was right on the money with his earlier comment. With Kurt gone, the referee signaled for the bell to ring despite Charles' protest. Let's get to the match! Match - JET Hamada vs. Charles Langford
There's no two ways about this one, Charles' bird just got cooked. JET absolutely dominated him and scored one of the most decisive victories in the league with that powerful oosotogari buster. Geese Walker may have to up his game on that particular move since I think JET may have one-upped him in execution.
Aside from some minimal offense and a surprisingly quick pin attempt that resulted in a near 3 count, Langford was thoroughly outclassed in this match. That being said, I suppose you have to give him some credit for not turning tail and running away the moment Kurt was chased off. Is this because Charles severely underestimated his opponent here, unlike his reaction to Corey O'Brian, or is it possible that everything Corey and JET said about Charles struck a cord and made him actually try to compete? If the latter is the case, you have to wonder how much Langford's abilities have atrophied due to his time away from 'injury' and choices to rely on hijinks rather than wrestling. Even if Charles truly is statistically eliminated from this league, could this loss be the low point that is needed for him to change his approach?
JET Hamada (O) ["G-Force" - 13:54] (X) Charles Langford
All questions about Charles aside, tonight we saw the JET Hamada that Corey was talking about. I am looking forward to seeing JET face him as well as THRASH Ogawa in the future.
We will return in a few weeks with Continuum V!
